First day of high school. Most people would be excited. Me?
Not so much. I didn't really care.
I glanced at the mirror before I left my room. I looked good. Better than usual, anyway. I may not care that it's the first day of high school, but I still make an effort; even if it's just appearance.
My black hair was as it was since I got out of bed, and I was wearing a black shirt that was a lot tighter than I remembered it, and tighter than I would have liked.
I got enough attention-seeking girls swooning over me; a tight shirt that highlighted my muscles was the last thing I needed.
Over the shirt - hoping to hide a bit of it - I wore a red, black and white jacket. I also had on black jeans and sneakers.
Above my faintly freckled cheeks, I met my dark eyes in my reflection, and only one thought crossed my mind that split second: I can do this.
I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs. I took my time eating the breakfast that my mom made me.
I was an orphan. My mom and dad had died in a disaster - I had no family left. So I was adopted and never looked back at that unfortunate day.
However, as I tied my shoes, I couldn't help but remember. How happy I was on my first day of school. Mom tying my shoes. Dad making me pancakes. Me - hugging them both before heading to the bus and saying...
I love you.
I blinked hard, but a tear escaped anyway and rolled down my cheek.
Sadness turned to anger and I suddenly punched the wall in frustration. My eyes widened as I left a large crack in the wall. The crack went further up the wall then stopped.
I sighed, glad I didn't do too much damage. I was troublesome as a child too and broke many things - whether they were fragile or not. My parents got used to it though, and I knew dad would understand and fix it up later.
I turned to leave but I was swept off my feet. I screamed as I swirled around in circles in the midst of dust and dirt, getting drenched by rain. I caught a glimpse of the window, and then I really freaked out.
It seemed this tornado-storm thing wasn't speeding spreading anywhere - it was just in my house.
Suddenly I saw lightning flash before my eyes, and everything went black.
