I left the class after it was over, Fred and George following me. George came up beside me and said, "Foul git, isn't she?" George asked. "Yeah, sure." I answered. "What's wrong?" Fred asked, coming up on my other side.
"It's just that I've already gotten myself in detention, and now I have another one to deal with." I replied huffily. George frowned.
"Well, I have to go. See you later." I said, and walked away to Potions.
Fred's POV
George and I rushed to Potions. "Wonder why she's in a bad mood?" I asked. "Didn't you hear her mate? Or were you too busy staring? She said that she had enough detentions to deal with." replied George.
As we walked into Potions, Snape glared at us. "You're late. Ten points from Gryffindor. " "But we're only late by one minute!" my voice cracked. "I don't care. Get in your seats. I trust you can find them." Snape sneered.
We sat across the room from Nicole. We looked in our book for the instructions for the Potion Snape ordered us to make. As everyone started brewing, I glanced over at Nicole.
George nudged me, and I looked at him. "What?!" I hissed. George indicated for me to look up.
I looked up and Snape was towering over me.
"I would like it, Mr. Weasley, if you would not stare at Miss Fritzinger, and get to your own work." Snape sneered. I felt my ear tips turning red. I turned my gaze to look into my cauldron.
"Five points from Gryffindor, I think." said Snape.
Lee Jordan, who was behind us, wolf-whistled. Snape glared at him and said, "Another ten, if you please."
Lee stopped at once, and returned to his work.
I followed George and Nicole off to Umbridge's room later that night. She gave each of us a quill. "You'll be writing lines. You must write, I will not tell a professor wrong. Tut, tut." Umbridge said.
I began writing. After I wrote the sentance, a searing pain jolted through my hand. I looked at it, and the words I had written on the parchment were now embedded on my hand.
By the end of detention, my hand was bleeding and sore. When she got to me, she turned my hand over, and examined it. "You all may go." said Umbridge.
Nicole left in a hurry, and me and George kept a regular pace. "She really is a foul git, I was right." said George. I nodded. George elbowed me. "Why're you so quiet?" I elbowed him back, and said, "I'm thinking, okay?"
"Thinking about what? Your future girlfriend? Oh I know! Your future wife!" George exclaimed the last parts.
George, don't do that to me, I thought to him.
But I know it annoys you, George thought back.
I slept soundlessly, dreaming of a no-faced person, and George's and my future shop.
Harry woke me up, and said he had big news. George grudgingly got up, and ruffled his hair. When we got to the common room, me and George shouted up the girls dorm stairs for Ginny and Hermione to wake up.
Nicole's POV
So the group of us (except for Fred and George, since they went to invite everybody else) headed over to The Hog's Head in Hogsmeade. When we entered, there was a veiled witch. "Has it occurred to you that Umbridge might be under that?" Harry asked. "Umbridge is shorter. Anyway, even if Umbridge does come in here there's nothing she can do to stop us. I've double and triple checked the school rules, and we're not out of bounds. I specifically asked Flitwick if students are allowed in The Hog's Head, and he said yes, but strongly suggested we bring our own glasses. Study groups and homework groups are allowed. Just don't parade what we're doing." Hermione explained.
"No, especially since it's not a homework group you're planning." Harry said. The batman came from a back room. He grunted, "What?"
"Three butterbeers please." said Hermione politely. He pulled up three dirty bottles and put them on the bat counter. "Six Sickles."
Harry passed over the silver, and the barman studied Harry for a second. We came to the farthest table from the bar. "You know what? I've always wanted to try a Firewhiskey. I bet the barman would get me one." Ron said. "You are a Prefect!" Hermione said.
"Oh yeah." said Ron, the smile on his face fading.
Then a bunch of people filed in. Neville Longbottom, Dean Thomas, Lavender Brown, Parvati and Padma Patil, Cho Chang and her friends, Luna Lovegood, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, Angelina Johnson, Colin and Dennis Creevey, Ernie Macmillan, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Hannah Abbott, Anthony Goldstein, Michael Corner, Ginny Weasley, Fred and George Weasley, and Lee Jordan.
"You said a couple of people where coming Hermione!" Harry exclaimed. "The idea seemed quite popular." Hermione cheered. "Hi. Could we have. . . Twenty-five butterbeers please?" Fred came up to the counter and asked. The barman glared, and started passing down butterbeers. "Cheers. Cough up, I haven't got enough gold for all of these." said Fred as he passed out the butterbeers. I watched as he passed out more and more, and people grudgingly pouring out their wizard money to Fred.
Harry and Hermione whispered to each other, and Neville approached them and started talking. Katie Bell came over to sit with me. "Er, well-er-hi." said Hermione. It got quiet real fast. "Well. . .erm. . .well, you know why you're here. Erm. . .well, Harry here had the idea. I mean- I had an idea that it might be good if people want to learn Defense Against The Dark Arts, and I mean really learn it, because nobody can call what Umbridge teaches us Defense Against the Dark Arts. Well, I thought it would be good if we took matters into our own hands.
"And by that I mean learning real spells, not just the theory." Hermione was interrupted by Michael Corner. "You want to pass your O.W.L.s too I bet?" he asked.
"Of course." said Hermione. But I want more than that, I want to be properly trained. Because Lord Voldemort is back."
Cho'a friend screeched, Terry Boot gave a twitch, Padma Patil shuddered, Neville gave a yelp. "Where's the proof You-know-Who's back?" asked Zacharias Smith. "Dumbledore believe's-"
"You mean Dumbledore believe's him." said Smith. They started to get in a heated argument until Harry stopped it l by telling us about the fears of death being right before our eyes. Hermione suggested we each sign our name on a parchment to know who was all here. Then we all headed back to Hogwarts.
For lunch we had porridge, but the ones who came to The Hog's Head didn't eat much. I sat next to Fred. "Are you coming to The Burrow tomorrow?" Fred asked, since it had already started snowing last week, and Christmas was approaching. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mouse stop eating and stiffen to listen to what I would say. I pondered for a moment, before saying yes.
Then, I pulled Fred out of the Great Hall. "Do you mind if you invite Mouse too? She would be disappointed if she was at the Mouse House alone." I whispered. "Okay, but why did you have to drag me all the way out here?" Fred asked. "Because," I answered. "I didn't want Mouse to hear. Now go." I gave him a little shove, and he went over to go talk to Mouse.
He came back, after a few minutes. "What did she say?" I grabbed his arm. "She said yes." Fred said, and I squealed, and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're my best friend!" I gave him one last squeeze, and let go. "What, I was never your best friend before?" Fred asked, faking hurt.
"Of course you were! You're just even more of my best friend now!" I said. Fred left to get George and we left for Potions. "You are late. Ten points from Gryffindor." Snape sneered. I could feel that Fred and George were about to object, but I pulled Fred's arm, and he took that as his cue to shut up.
