Chapter 3

Jewel stood with her head high as she and the other cats watched the Desert Wanderers leave. Spike stood by her queen's side, her golden tabby pelt fluffed up. "Jewel, we can't believe you did that." She mewed.

"I only did what any noble cat would have done for her subjects. Come along now, we must return to our home." She led the way back. Quartz carried a rat between her teeth. Brick gave his apprentice a confused look.

"Can't let prey go to waste." She mewed and trotted onward across the sand. Scorch stared off in the distance where the Desert Wanderers had left. Lashing her tail slowly, she turned and followed behind Lizard. "I might just have found a way for you to become Pharaoh." She mewed quietly in his ear.

Lizard's green eyes gleamed. "What is it?" He meowed. Scorch stopped as the rest of the patrol continued ahead, following Jewel and Dune. "Those Desert Wanderers." She replied.

Her brother blinked. "Those back-clawing mange-pelts? I rather have a hoard of rodents help me." He simply scoffed. Scorch rolled her eyes in annoyance. "If we offer them something they couldn't refuse. Think about it my brother. If we offer them the right reward, then they'll have to help you to well deserved leadership." She explained.

Lizard had a thoughtful look as his eyes glittered. "I suppose. These cats are living in ancient ways with Dune's guidance. If I were Pharaoh of OasisClan, I would show them what a real Pharaoh is. Our ancestors will grace me with good fortune for ridding their Clan of him." He meowed.

"But you must find a queen my brother." Scorch reminded him. Lizard blinked slowly and straightened up slightly. "No trouble. She-cats can't resist me, brother of the Pharaoh dear sister." He meowed in a cocky tone.

"Quite," Scorch meowed in an annoyed voice. "Come, we must return before they begin to wonder what is taking us so long." She padded across the sands with Lizard by her side in the direction of their camp.
