Hostage or Captive

Chapter 13

(Please reread the Institute POV in chapter 12 between Jace and Magnus, I made a few changes to help the story flow)

(3rd POV at Magnus's. It takes place while Sebastian was out and about)

"So when is your Warlock friend supposed to get here?" Jace asked his voice laced with annoyance.

"Well friend is kind of a stretch." Magnus replied, "And he should be here any moment"

"That's what you said an hour ago" Izzy exclaimed collapsing on the couch next to Simon.

"He was always one for being fashionably late" Magnus said.

"Did you make it clear that this isn't a party he's coming to, but rather a rescue for my sister" Jace said his voice rising.

"Jace it isn't Magnus's fault" Clary told him, trying to calm him down. Before Jace could say anything else a portal appeared and out stepped a short green man whose hands seemed to be webbed. Simon let out a short laugh at the sight of the man, only to cry out in pain as Isabelle shoved her elbow into his side. 

"Charles how delighted we are that you've finally arrived" Magnus dead panned.

"Yes well I had more important matters to attend to first" the man, Charles replied. Clary had to pull Jace back onto the couch.

"WHAT COULD BE MORE IMPOR-" Jace yelled only for Charles to raise his hand taking Jace's voice away.

"Had I known that was possibly I would've had someone do that long ago" Sebastian's voice came through the portal before he walked into the room. Jace sprung up drawing his seraph blade with everyone quickly following suit. 

"Where's Skylar?" Izzy screamed at him seeing as how Jace was failing to make any sound.

"Kill me and you'll never know" He replied laughing, "Though you couldn't even if you wanted to". 

"I say we try any way" Clary said raising the seraph blade in his direction.

"Now, now sister" Sebastian smirked before adding, "You wouldn't want to risk Jace losing his sister now would you? Sister's are a special thing, wouldn't you  agree Jace?" He finished turning towards Jace only to laugh,

"Oh that's right Charles has your voice now doesn't he"

"Charles" Magnus spoke, "How could you betray me?" 

"He paid me quite handsomely" he replied a smile evident on his face.

"Give Jace his voice back" Clary interrupted.

"Of course, Charles" Sebastian replied and Charles raised his hand, "A brother should do anything for his sister right Jace?" 

"What do you want" Jace growled, earning a smirk from Sebastian.

"I need your help getting something from the Clave"

"What is it you need" Alec asked

"I need all of Valentine's old books, all of his journals and spell books."

"What do you need with them?" Jace questioned, anger evident in his tone.

"That's none of your concern, now is it?" Sebastian quipped.

"It is if you want us to help you" Izzy spat 

"No, you will help me if you ever wish to see Skylar alive again" Sebastian growled.

"Why do you need our help, can't you do it yourself?" Clary asked 

"Dearest sister" Sebastian started, "You forget I am a wanted man, it would be so much easier for you all to get access to them." with that being said he turned away from them all.

"Come now Charles it's time we leave" Charles turned away from them as well following Sebastian. After the portal was made Sebastian walked towards it before turning to face them all again, 

"You have one week to get them before I kill Skylar" and with that he walked through the portal with Charles following.
