During the month, Michael tried not to raise anymore suspicion. He informed Sam of their plan to wait, and she agreed, seemingly just following his lead. He spent his time running on the treadmill, playing chess, and studying his medical books as normal. He hardly ever spoke a word.
A week into the month, like Sam had said, Michael was able to pick a hobby. He had chosen a library. He had seriously considered a computer, but knew it would be monitored the entire time. When he came back to his room, he had the entire collection of books the Vault had available. Every major, every 'reading time' book that wasn't for studying. And he knew he chose correctly.
Two weeks in he woke up from his sleep and threw up. For two days straight he was isolated to his room for being to sick to barely move, people in his room constantly. But eventually he picked up and got better. He explained what happened to Melanie and Sam, and Reggie watched Michael closely for a few days, though didn't approach.
The next two weeks went on 'normally,' Michael using his library to continue his medical research, sometimes dipping into biochemistry book 1

During the month, Melanie laid low as well. She talked quietly to Sam and John when they were around, just friendly things, but spent most of her time with Ciara. They drew and colored and read together. She spent so much time on the treadmill she'd become quite the runner, getting faster and stronger every day.For her hobby she asked for sewing supplies. It turned out to be fairly wise, because she was able to sew a lot of things. She carefully sewed a pocket into her pillow, almost impossible to detect. She knitted socks for everyone, which oddly enough she was permitted to distribute to all of the others. Hers, Michael's, Ciara's, and Sam's each had a small pocket hidden inside. They would be able to smuggle things. Michael fell really ill a couple weeks in, and Melanie didn't feel well either but never got too sick. She did, however, develope a rash that slowly spread up her back and under her arms, and eventually to her neck. The doctor assured her she'd be okay. Things carried on normally.
