Melanie ran, which made her feel very nice, she kept her eyes out for random supply closets and cafeterias. It was a big vault, there were plenty.

She realized how fast she was, much faster than the others. She surpassed Sam twice, who was invisible and going ahead just in case someone was coming. They ran into their first problem when they got close the the first elevator. There were five guards beside it, pacing anxiously. She and Sam pulled back, and Sam made the gesture to everyone to stay back and press themselves against the wall.

Sam crept in behind one of the guards and quietly disarmed him of the gun tucked in his belt. She relieved two other guards of their weapons, but the final ones were holding theirs. They hadn't noticed her at all. Michael was able to focus and very slowly stole their guns, and before they could do anything else, Ciara sent a high-pitched squeal into their brains that had them all on the ground, helpless. John came last, telling each of them to lock themselves in the nearest store room, get rid of the key, and not radio the others.

They continued up. They handled four more encounters like this, and a couple where the armed men caught them from behind. They made it out unscathed each time.
-
When working together, they seemed unstoppable. They all were beginning to feel good, happy each time they made it through an encounter without anything bad happening.

The last elevator dinged and the doors opened, revealing an empty hallway. John left the metal box first, glancing left and right before closing his eyes and humming. He stayed there for a bit as the other kids walked out of the elevator before the doors closed.

"This way." John immediately started walking, humming as he did, furrowing his brow in confusion. "There's no one here. Like literally no one. They must all be downstairs looking for us. They must think we would never try to actually leave the vault."

Michael glanced around with a worried expression. This seemed too easy.

"Wait. There's someone. One person. In front of the door we need." John kept walking as he said this, taking a few turns before stopping in front of a normal looking door. He waved at the others to stop, and pressed a finger against his lips to be quiet. He pointed through to the door then backed up slightly. Michael glanced around, then nodded to Reggie.

Reggie almost seemed ecstatic to finally be able to do something. He opened the door, charging in with Ciara still on his shoulders. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out for a moment- he was shocked. The kids in the hall immediately got confused, following behind him through the door.

The person standing in front of the door they needed was wearing a purple suit. The Overseer.
-
Everyone skidded to a halt, staring in confusion. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you leave." The Overseer said, giving a sympathetic smile. The kids exchanged looks. Their indoctrinated love for the Overseer was at war with their hatred for everyone who had a part in this.

Before they could say anything, more men than they thought even lived in the vault marched up behind her. John ducked his head into the hallway to see more coming from the left and right. They were trapped.

Melanie began grabbing their wrists, until she had a hand on all five of her friends. She concentrated, energy building up inside her... And fizzling out. She tried again, pushing hard. She got them three feet backwards, into the hall where they were entirely surrounded. She wasn't strong enough to transport all of them.
-
Michael shook his head slowly, cursing to himself. 'There's has to be some way. We can't fight them all, especially if they have guns.'

Reggie was raising his fists, glancing around, but even he could tell there was too much. Sam turned invisible, having a small panic attack as she was crowded around by her friends, and all the guns that surrounded them. "Melanie? You can't go any farther?"

"I'm out Michael. Six is a lot of people, I can barely teleport myself."

Suddenly John spoke up, surprising everyone. "You will teleport us into the garage, and you will do it now." He grabbed the taser again, cranking up the voltage and shocking Melanie. Though, since everyone was touching, everyone was shocked through her as well.

However, while everyone was shocked, they jumped around a bit. They were in the robotics lab, mechanical pieces laying around. They were in another lab, this one with a table knocked over. They were in an office- the Overseer's office. An extremely large clock counted down numbers: 00:00:05:22:12

Then, they were teleported to the garage. The only indicator being that they happened to be surrounded by vehicles and giant power suits, all shapes and sizes. The kids all fell apart to the ground, moaning from pain or breathing hard. Michael glanced around. The entrance vault door was behind them, the large exit vault door taking up almost the entire wall to their left. The ceiling was huge, almost three stories tall. Michael's eyes finally landed on a control box on the second floor, and he nodded, pushing himself to his feet. "Alright guys. Plan is back in motion. Let's do this."
