The next two days went by rather quickly. Mostly we went to their recordings and held a few signings in the park. I'm not upset with Sky, nor am I upset with Andy. It was just one of those freak out in the moment type things. I'm just worried Sky might think I like him more than just friends. Anyway as of right now I'm sitting in an airport waiting for the guys to make sure our flight is on time. Sky, Carlos, and I are just sitting in the uncomfortable airline chairs, when my phone rings. I fish it out of my back pocket and see on my caller-id that mom was calling.
"Hey mom," I said knowing she's about to yell at me. I haven't exactly called her in the couple weeks i have been in California.
There's a pause on her end then she said, "Why the HELL haven't you called me?" Of course I'm right again.
"Well maybe if you actually started with 'Hey Cat, how's Cali?' I would've had time to explain!" I yell back.
"Okay then Cat. Explain why my daughter doesn't answer my calls when she's half way around the country. Explain why she doesn't answer my calls on her BIRTHDAY. And explain why you've let us worry about you for weeks," she said on the verge of tears. Guilt trip. She knows it's my weakness.
I mutter on the other end, "Sorry mom. But if you stop yelling I promise to call every night starting tonight when we land in..Tokyo."
More silence. She's really angry now, "TOKYO?! When were you planning to tell me about TOKYO? I thought you said this was just some normal tour. Not a tour HALF WAY AROUND THE GLOBE. I want you home right now! I'm gunna call the airline and have them switch your ticke--"
I interrupt my mother, "MOM STOP. I'm eighteen now i'm going to Tokyo whether you agree or not." I hung up the phone knowing this disagrement wasn't going to be finished when I call her tonight. I look over at Carlos and Sky, whom are both staring at me.
"YES?" I snap at them. Quickly they turn there heads avoiding my glare. The guys come back and sit down.
Andy sits in the seat to the left of me and Sky looks over at him. Sky is sitting to the right of me. Of course. Andy said, "The plane's on schedual, there's a small storm in Tokyo but they said it should be no problem with landing and such." I nod hoping the flight goes well. I still get anxiety on planes. Mom said that my father always did too. Sky must have noticed my uneasiness and put his hand on my knee to comfort me. But when I looked up at him, I noticed it was only because Andy happened to be looking at him. I move his hand and stand up slightly worried about Tokyo. Something just doesn't seem right, and the storm makes me even more uneasy.
"Are you okay Catarina?" Andy asked breaking his gaze from Sky. I nod and continue to pace the airline floor.
The speaker sounds and I jump, "Flight 89B to Tokyo is now boarding." My heart races as we advance our way to the plane. We make our way to the steps and Andy climbs up behind me placing his hand on the small of my back to steady me. I flash him a thank you smile and proceed to my seat. I sit by the window and place a piece of mint gum in my mouth to avoid the ear popping situation.
Andy sits next to me and Sky sits behind. "You look nervous," he said to me. It was more of a question rather than a statement I suppose, so I answer him. "Sorta. I get anxiety I guess," I explained. "My father always got it on planes too," I said this time more like I was talking to myself. "Tell me more about your family," Andy said almost assuring like. I sigh and look out the window. But I get a queesy feeling and look at Andy again. "What do you wanna know?" I asked. He shrugged and said, "I don't know. Everything." I laughed. "There's wayyyy too much to say everything," I exclaimed.
"Tell me about Joe," he said. I can tell he's trying to distract me because the plane's about to take off. I look at him and said, "I don't know. Joe he was really close with our sister who went off to college after our father died. He's been distant lately. Blending in with me and mom. Avoiding our fights, and hating the world I guess. But really he's a good kid." I nod looking at my knees.
Andy also nods as if he's known what I just told him, his whole life. I proceed saying, "he wants you guys to sign his guitar for him." I smile looking at Andy waiting for him to answer. "Sure. We love our fans. Even if they're only nine years old," he smiles then laughs as I lay my head on his shoulder. I hate plane rides.
Soon we land in Tokyo and my heart starts to slow its pace. Everyone finds their luggage and we proceed out of the airport. The sky is the first thing you instantly notice. I've heard that it's grey skies all the time, but this is ridiculous. You can tell it's about to storm because the clouds are slightly darker than the sky and it's really humid and damp out. A car comes to pick us up and Carlos opens the door for everyone. I sit by Sky deciding he probably got pissed off at me for sitting with Andy on the plane. Sky smiles at me, "Can you believe we're in Tokyo?" Nope. No i cannot. I give a weak laugh from being so exhausted. Looking out the window there are people EVERYWHERE. I mean everywhere.
We come to a stop at a nice hotel named New Otani. It has a triangular shape and a beautiful view. It has started to rain now, not heavy but just misty enough to cover the car windows. We stroll inside and get our room keys. I'm rooming by myself this time. Sammi's going to be with Jinxx obviously. Sky is rooming with Carlos and Jake again. And Andy is with Ashley and CC. We're all on the same floor this time. When I walk into my room for the first time, the first thing I notice is the amazing view of the beach. Unfortunately it's still raining and water taints the enormous window in my room. The sky's are extra grey and it looks just nasty outside.
I hear a knock on my door. "Come in!" I yell as I throw my black tank top in my dresser. Carlos walks in holding out the phone and mouthing the word mom. Great. I grab the phone and said, "Yes mom?" I hear laughing in the background.
"Don't worry, I didn't call to bother you. Or yell or what ever. I just thought you'd like to know Claire stopped by today," Mom said. So my sister finally decided to visit Joe and Mom from college for the first time in months. "That's wonderful," I said sarcastically.
She doesn't say anything at first and I sit on my bed. Holy crap that's comfortable. I bounce a little in my seat and mom says, "She was hoping you'd be home by now." I pause, "She did, or you did?"
"Both of us were honey," Mom said.
"Mhmm what ever. Look tell her I said hey and what not. I have to unpack," I hung up the phone and handed it back to Carlos. He looks puzzled, "what was that about?" I glare at him then said, "Just because you're dating my mom, doesn't mean you have to know everything that goes on." He throws his hands up in surrender and leaves the room. I put in my headphones and blast Asking Alexandria. Soon I'm finished unpacking my clothes and I sit on my bed staring out the window. The winds have turned violent and the grey skies have turned to black. I flip a lamp on and turn on television hoping to find the news. Unfortunately everythings in Japanese and I can't make out what the urgency of his tone is. To me it just sounds like a very concerned Japanese man so I call up Sky's room number.
"Hello?" He asked.
"DO YOU KNOW JAPANESE?" I quickly ask.
He pauses and adds humour to his voice, "No I do not speak the language of the Japaneses."
He laughs and I say in a very angry tone, "IM SERIOUS!"
"Me too," he said still laughing.
"Ughhh!" I hung up the phone and take a trip to the lobby of the hotel.
