I knew I couldn't stay at Taya's place forever so I had to make a plan. I grabbed my phone and dialed the only person I could. It only rang for a few seconds.
"Mila?"
"Dad, hey."
"Oh sweets, how are you?"
"Um yeah I'm doing good. Hey listen, Dad could i stay with you? Mom's finally gone off her head, like you said she would and i can't stay with Tay forever."
"Wait what, are you okay? She didn't hurt you right? And sweetie you can stay with me anytime. I'm in New York until tomorrow, so just stay with Tay till tomorrow and I'll send Raj to pick you up when I'm back."
"Thanks dad. I'm really sorry for shutting you out."
"You have nothing to apologise for. That witch of a mother you have would probably have fed you some stupid lies about me."
"Yeah she did. Listen i gotta go. Love you. Bye."
Beep.
My eyes lingered a while longer at the phone screen. At least I wasn't homeless. Placing my phone on the bed, I stood up and walked out of the room. My stomach grumbled while I walked to the kitchen.
I NEED FOOODDDDD.
Hungover Taya's head shot up and smiled at me sheepishly.
"Look who's finally up." She grinned at me. "Speak to your dad yet?"
"Yeah, he's sending Raj tomorrow." I replied to her question, digging through the shelves filled with food.
"Oh okay, at least. Hey, did you see Ivy was at the party last night?" Taya asked. Ivy's name sent a shudder up my spine. I nodded my head. "I saw her this morning." I told her what I saw and Taya's eyes widened in shock.
"Oh my god. But like she used to be this goodie two shoes. When i saw her last night she walked in with Carter Devereux. They were hand in hand. And Carter is major bad news at our school, you know that. Speaking of which he's best friends with Mr Bad-News of King Edwards High that you hooked up with last night."
"Wait. That's the Oliver Ryan? You made me sleep with a gang leader?!"
"I didn't make you, you did it yourself." She shrugged. "What's he like?"
"Definitely not like what everyone describes him as." I thought back on him. Remembering that he had put his number on my phone. Should I text him? I thought about for a second. No, rather not. He's bad news. Just like you. It's toxic. "But it was probably an act. Fuck it." I said.
"Who knows, maybe the bad boy showed his soft side off to you." Taya's eyebrows wiggled.
"Yeah right, either way if he did he probably knows what happened and wants to pity me. I'm good without that."
Right?
