"Kate, are you really leaving? C'mon, just stay for the rest of the tour, please."
"Ashton, I am going to miss you too. But I need to go. I need to go back to school, back to my life."
"You have a life here."
"I sit by myself most of the time. You guys are either sleeping, rehearsing or playing a show. I have seen you maybe three times really in this past month? I rarely see Lou anymore, I haven't hung out with Niall or Zayn or Mikey in forever! And Luke and Harry....well.
You know."
"Kate-"
"Ashton no. I am leaving. I need to breathe for once and maybe not cry everyday."
"I really can't talk you out of this?"
"No, you can't. My flight is in a couple of hours."
"A COUPLE OF HOURS!? WHY SO SOON?"
"Because, if I stayed until...the morning even, I would just end up giving in and staying. So I booked this next available flight back to Sydney."
"So that's it then. You are leaving."
"Yep."
"I'm going to miss you so much bugs."
He engulfed me into a big bear hug that lasted for a good two minutes.
"I need to go pack."
I pulled away, looked up at him and scurried away.
"Oh. And Ashton."
I halted.
"Let's keep this between us, yeah?"
He nodded and I smiled with gratitude and continued to head to the bus.
When I got to the bus I stopped slowly. Trying to remember all of the good memories I have had on this tour. But there were so few good one....it didn't take up time.
"Kate?"
I heard, snapping me out of my haze.
"Lou?"
I blinked, seeing Louis walking out from behind the curtain.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to-"
"Be rehearsing? Yeah, but I was feeling kind of under the weather, so I came on the bus to lie down."
"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you."
"It's fine, why are you here?"
He tilted his head in confusion.
"I'm.....packing."
I couldn't lie to him.
"Packing? Are you going back on the 5SOS bus?"
"No. I'm packing for good."
"Your leaving!?"
He bloodshot eyes widened and his scratchy voice raised.
"Lou, you've been there to watch me cry. And hurt and all of it. I can't take it anymore. So yeah. I leave in a couple hours."
"Kate-"
"Don't. Ashton already tried to talk me out of it."
"I wasn't going to. I think leaving might be the best thing for you."
He smiled and hugged me.
"Thank you for understanding."
I hugged him back.
"I'm going to miss you babe. It won't be the same without you. How did everyone else take it?"
"Um..."
"They don't know. Do they?"
"No. And I'd like it to stay that way."
"Were you going to tell me?"
"No."
I looked down at the rug we stood on.
"Well that hurts. But I'm glad you did."
He half smiled.
"So just Ashton and I know?"
"Yes."
"Okay. Well I love you Katie, and call me when you land?"
"Of course Lou, I love you."
I wrapped my arms around him once more and squeezed tighter than ever. Knowing I won't see him again for a long time.
"Alright. I need to pack."
I half smiled and walked back to my bed. Well...it's not my bed anymore.
**** 2.5 HOURS LATER*****
"Flight 251A to Sydney, Australia will begin boarding now."
"Okay. I guess this is it."
"I'm going to miss you so much. It's going to be weird to not see you everyday. What am I suppose to do without my best friend??"
"I think Calum will fit for the time being."
I joked.
"I'm going to miss you too Ash. I'll call you when I get home."
I smiled. And hugged him really tight.
"Okay. Love you Bugs."
"Love you."
I pulled up my handle on my suitcase and walked toward the gate. Not even taking a glance back.
I'm going home. And I'm going to be happy for once.
