This eye-opening poem was written by nightmxre-  You should definitely read her story:

Audacity
***
She had a little friend

Sometimes she thinks of her of a fairy.

Who grants her wishes.

She calls her "Ana"

She watches, analyzes, criticizes, and helps me everyday.

And life wouldn't be the same without "Ana"

When she first spoke, she whispered,

"I've been watching you,

Seeing through your troubled eyes,

Did you know there's a light trying to be seen, deep in the darkness?

I can help you make sure the light is seen,

I'll be your shoulder to lean on,

You don't have to do this on your own,

You don't understand yet,

But you will.

All you have to do,

Is do exactly what I say,

But if you disobey me,

I will make sure you are beyond miserable.

Are you up for this?"

She thought for a minute,

And then she finally agreed.

"If that's what it takes." She stated.

A year later,

She is still under the contract of "Ana"

The fairy is brutal and honest

And she pressures and controls her victims.

"It's only for the best. You gotta give up something for something that's even better," Ana claims.

The light trying to shine in all the dark became smaller and smaller

Until it was barely seen

And eventually it was gone

Like all the people in her life.

Her parents and doctor pressure her as well,

"SHE HELPS ME TO BE BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT, BUT YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THAT,"
she screams.

She encourages me to starve

But it's ok

Because cover girls don't cry after the face is made

And petite and angelic is the new trend

I want to be the trend for once

Sometimes "Ana"

Is a little hard on me

I am afraid once in a while

Because I did something wrong

So she makes me more miserable

But it's okay

I'm used to fear

Her words stab once in a while

But I have a bullet free heart once it comes to her

"You are getting really fat. You are not enough. Why didn't you skip that meal, you fat fuck?!?"

And once I see the reality in the mirror

She tells me the honest truth:

"You're disgusting, don't you see? You have to keep working on yourself, to be like me, to be petite, to be beautiful, to be angelic, to be skinny."

I trust her, so I take her words of genius to heart.

I don't let failure scare me away

Because failure are for the ones who give up

And pretty girls don't give up.

Ana is my motivator,

She makes my life complete,

I envy her,

She had so much self control,

While I can't be like her fast enough.

Who's the monster making me imperfect?

Who's trying to make me give up?

There's infinite answers.

There's two demons inside my head:

The friend and the enemy.

One helps me be perfect, and the other destroys me.

I listen to her, but I have to hide her,

Otherwise they'll kill her

And I need her.
