Intern [Asher]

I got a lot of requests for an Asher imagine, so here we go

You moved to LA after finishing up film school, you hoped that you'd get picked up in the film or even TV industry. A job did find you, but it wasn't something you expected. You became an editor for a YouTube channel.

At first, everything was normal, then it all hit the fan. The office you worked at, something was always on fire. Apparently Aleks was the one who'd always start the fires, James would scream about it, Trevor would attempt to put it out, and Brett would go to his office and question his life.

They weren't the only ones to worked at Cow Chop, you also met Anna, Joe, Lindsay, and Asher. You also met Jakob, but he didn't technically work there, he was only James' editor. Everyone was really nice, the environment not so much, but their personalities definitely made up for it.

Since you were so new to LA, you didn't have an established place to live. When you first came out here, you stayed in motels hoping you wouldn't catch a disease (Although you were afraid of catching one at work now). Trevor and Asher heard about your current living situation and invited you to stay with them.

Anna and Jakob also lived in the same place so it was almost like the office, just less fires. Asher would occasionally stream late at night, you could hear him through the walls sometimes. You didn't mind it, he was relatively quiet. Sometimes he get a little too drunk and he'd end up making noise going up and down stairs, but he'd always apologize the next morning. 

As the new intern, you did more camera work than editing. At the end of every shoot you'd pop out the SD card and hand it to Asher for him to edit. Majority of the time you'd hand it off to Asher, sometimes it would be Anna. She'd always smile at you and talk to you when you ended up giving her the SD card. You developed a fast relationship with Anna, but a slow one with Asher. 

He'd smile when you handed off the footage to him, but no small talk. If you ever did a recording with him, he'd interact with you less, but Anna would compensate. The fans saw how you and Anna interacted and made comments saying how they ship it or it was their OTP. It became the joke of the office.

Everyone would joke about it, even in recordings, almost fueling the fan fiction fire. But one person didn't even comment on the ship... Asher. 

He never spoke about it, when the group made a joke he'd seem almost jealous. You never brought it up to him, you we're too hesitant to ask. 

The whole Anna ship died a bit as time went on, it wasn't ask talked about anymore, what was talked about was you. Fans wanted to know more about you, they requested a CCTV with you.

The crew decided it was a good idea, later planning out where to film. The roof was chosen as a location because of the shortening budget. Aleks wasn't there for the podcast, Asher took his place which excited the viewers since they wanted to know more about him.

The group asked you questions, mostly about how you started at Cow Chop and a few personal questions. Asher asked most of the personal questions, asking about where you were born. He found out you were born in the same state as him, but you stayed longer than him. 

You both found out you had so much in common, to where James made a comment about shipping you two. That comment was the comment heard around the world, because instantly people started shipping. When the podcast went live on YouTube, Asher x Y/N was the new ship.

This time Asher openly participated in this ship, joking around with the guys about it. Every time you dropped off footage to him he'd say, "Thank you... Bae." You'd always give him a small smile, your cheeks always felt hot right after. You never really considered Asher as a romantic partner... or anyone for that matter. But somehow you developed a crush on him. 

A month passed, you still kept your feelings to yourself. You had this fear of the feelings being unrequited, so you made sure to hide your feelings at work and at home. Anna was aware of your crush on Asher, she became close with you and the secret slipped up during a movie night. She did keep quiet about it, you really respected that and you were glad to have her as a friend. 

Asher's teases of your "relationship" continued, hand holding happened in videos as a joke, close face to face moments, but that's all that ever happened. In videos, you portrayed unrequited love, always pushing Asher way, making him seem like he was a hopeless romantic. But in reality, it was the other way around. 

Your contract was coming to an end at Cow Chop, you'd love to renew, but another job offer came up. It was for a new, up incoming film. Everyone knew it was your dream job, so they understood your departure. Every day seemed to go by fast, you wished it'd slow down. Even though you were gonna persue your dreams... You we're gonna miss working with your friends.

On the last day, you turned off your computer slowing getting up from your chair. You took in one last good look of the warehouse before grabbing your bag. A card was sticking out of the pocket, it was signed by everyone. Reading it over again made you remember the small party they threw for you earlier in the day.

They got a red velvet cake that quickly got all over the walls and floor. A piñata was strung up, you had a bad feeling which was later confirmed. A blindfolded Trevor hit Alek right in the crotch. Luckily all of this was being filmed, poor Aleks couldn't move for the rest of the event.

A small tear started to form as you closed the card, you really were going to miss this place. "Wait, Y/N..." You heard a voice say as you made it out to your car. You turned around to be faced with Asher. "Yeah Asher, what's up?"

"I wanted to talk to you before you go." This was going to be the last time you'd see him for  awhile, you already packed your luggage and a few boxes into your car. "Listen...I know I was distant with you and the only time we interacted was in videos, but I want you to know that I didn't hate you." He said, looking like a load of weights came off his shoulders. "I mean I never really thought you hated me-" You started, but was quickly cut off. 

"I like you. Like more than a friend." Asher said quickly. Everything was quiet... Just like the movies. "I.. Like you too." You replied, your face still ahowing signs of shock from his confession. "I want something with you Y/N... Now that you're moving on, I wanted to tell you, but I feel like it's too late since you're all packed up-" "Asher..." You cut him off, looking up at him. 

"I want something too... Even though we can't see each other everyday, we could at least talk everyday. Its not the end of the world." His eyes met yours, his lips formed a smile to match the one on your face. "We can make this work..." He said, pulling you into a tight hug. As you both pulled away, you came back to press your lips against his quickly. "Sorry... It just felt appropriate for the moment... You know those movie cliches-" Asher cut your sentence off with a kiss. 

"Oh I know... Now you'll be editing those cliches..." He looked at you fondly, proud of where your life was aheading next and also glad he was going to be apart of it. 

You grabbed his hand and placed a SD card in his palm. "Its today's footage... Make sure to click 'Eject SD' before removing it out of the drive." 

"Well if I corrupt the file, you'd just have to come back and do another shoot."

"Or we can just have our first date this weekend with some brunch and we can update each other about our lives then, deal?"

"Deal."

He pressed a kiss to your forehead. "I love you, Y/N." 

"I love you too."

"Welp, my ship is canon." You both heard a voice say. You looked to see who it was, it was James. "Aleks owes me $40 now. Thanks you two, now my wallet will be even thicker.
