"J-Jimin?" V asked. His eyes were the size of plates as he looked at Jimin.
"Y-yeah?" he asked.
V quickly embraced him in a tight hug. Jimin squirmed and tried to get away. He didn't know the kid!
"Who are you?" Jimin tried again. The grip around his shoulders loosened. V pulled back and gripped his shoulders. He tried to escape but V's hands were holding him tightly. V's security stepped forward, ready to jump in but V shook his head. They backed off.
"You mean you don't remember? You're Park Jimin, right?" he questioned excitedly, like a puppy meeting new people.
The smaller boy nodded. "Yes but who are you?"
"I can't believe I found you..." Tae whispered.
Jimin had enough. "What are you talking about?!" he demanded.
Taehyung looked straight into his eyes before speaking.
"Jimin, I'm your brother."
---***---
The words echoed in Jimin's mind, "I'm your brother." He shook his head, not believing what the idol had said. Just because he wasn't a fan didn't mean V had to make him go insane.
Jimin locked himself in his room once he got back to his hotel room. The other two boys knew he was upset and decided to give him his space. Maybe he shouldn't have run away like that. It was a bit childish. But what was the guy talking about?
He couldn't help but remember that smile. The smile that belonged to the little boy in his vision. It belonged to...his brother. But it couldn't be! Right?
Jimin gasped.
"Appa! Eomma, I miss appa! I miss Tae-Tae!" Ten year old Jimin yelled.
"Jimin! Be quiet. We're never going back there. That bastard doesn't deserve us. You're fine with me, Jiminie. I'll love you unconditionally," his mother consoled from the front seat of the car. She was driving. She couldn't hug him like she wanted to.
"Why did we have to leave?"
"Because your father isn't a good man, Jiminie. He doesn't want me anymore."
"What does that mean? Why did we have to leave my brother?"
"Jimin, just be quiet please. This is going to be a long car ride, so try to go to sleep."
Jimin cried for days. Then weeks. He had a feeling he was never going to see them again. He remembered his promise, though. "I'll find you," he said.
His mother lied to him, he realized. His father and brother weren't dead. He remembered his brother's smile. It was the same as that idol's. He definitely regretted running out after the encounter.
Jimin decided to wash away the tears and sadness with a shower. When he was clean, he walked out into the shared living room and found Jin and Jungkook on the couch watching a silly rom-com. He plopped down in between them, laying his head on Jin's lap and his legs over Jungkook's.
Jimin was glad when his two brothers didn't bring up the subject of the idol. He felt bad for not allowing Jungkook to stay any longer with V, though.
"Chim Chim? You alright?" Jungkook asked the Strawberry Shortcake.
"Huh? Yeah, why?"
"Uh, I asked if you could get up for a minute. The movie's over and I need to use the bathroom. By the way, Jin's asleep," he explained.
Jimin lifted his legs off of him and Jungkook dashed to the bathroom. Jimin tried not to wake the eldest as he slowly pushed himself up on his hands. He stood up and tried to walk to his room when he felt a hand wrap around his wrist. Looking down, Jin's long slender fingers were grabbing at him gently.
"Don't leave," Jin said. He let go of Jimin and sat up, reaching for something in his pocket. He pulled out a piece of folded paper. "You're curious, aren't you?"
Jimin nodded. Jin always seemed to read his mind. Jin handed him the paper and pulled Jimin down to sit next to him. He hugged the smaller boy. "No matter what happens, we're still here. I'm still the closest thing you've got to family, no matter what anyone else says."
Jimin took a deep breath, touched by his hyung's words. "I love you too, Jin." They let go of each other and Jimin passed Jungkook on the way to his room.
"Haha, you might not want to go in that bathroom for a while," Jungkook said with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
Jimin snorted. "That's so gross, Kook."
Jungkook laughed and disappeared into his own room while Jin ran to the kitchen presumably to raid the fridge.
Jimin backed into his room and shut the door. He sat on the bed and looked at the paper in his hands. It didn't take long for him to open it and read what was inside.
It was a messily written phone number. Above the numbers was a single letter.
"V."
