Jimin stared at the paper in his hands until he had fallen asleep. He woke the next morning and the paper Jin had given him was nowhere in sight. He began to panic and tore apart his room looking for it. He eventually gave up and sat down on his bed, head hanging low.
Soon, he heard footsteps approaching his door and a light knocking. "Hey man, you alright?" Jungkook asked, opening the door cautiously. "I heard a lot of noise in here and I wanted to check on you."
Jimin nodded. "Ne. Gwenchana."
"What's this?" the younger asked, walking next to the bed and picking up something from underneath. It was the paper.
"Ah!" Jimin yelped, grabbing the paper from Jungkook's paws and running to a corner with it.
"Hey man, what's the big deal?!" Jungkook yelled.
"'Hey man' why don't you be quiet?" Jin came out of his room looking tired and disheveled. "It's only 8 am why are you two awake?"
"Jimin summoned a tornado in his room and it woke me up. Sorry for waking you, Jin-hyung," he apologized.
Jin sighed. "It's fine. We've only got a few more days here in Seoul. Maybe we could go sightseeing today and do more shopping tomorrow."
"Sounds great!" Jimin chirped from his corner.
"Let's leave around, say, 11?" Jungkook suggested. They all agreed and the two other boys left Jimin's room.
The small boy sighed and moved from his safe corner to his bed. He grabbed his phone and looked at the paper, dialing the number in. His thumb hovered over the call button but he wasn't sure if he was ready to press it yet.
Fate didn't care what he was ready for, though. A bird flew into his window with a loud thump, scaring Jimin. He heard the ring from his phone and he realized he had accidentally hit call.
"What should I DO?!" he panicked. "Should I hang up? But he might call back!"
"Hello?" a deep voice came from his cell.
Jimin looked at the phone in horror. He didn't want to pick it up. He quickly threw the phone on his bed, forgetting to hang up. He facepalmed at his stupidity and inched closer to the phone.
"I can hear you moving over there. Who is this?"
Jimin froze and gulped. He gave in, deciding it was now or never.
"H-hi."
"Hello. Who am I speaking with?" The voice sounded amused.
"J-Jimin. Who are you?"
"I'm Taehyung."
Jimin didn't know where it came from but he found himself saying it before he could stop it. "Are you really my brother? How do you know me? My mom said my dad and brother died 12 years ago."
Taehyung sighed. "I remember you, Chim Chim. I'm sad that you don't remember me. But I know you remember one thing."
"Oh yeah? W-what's t-that?" Jimin squeaked out.
Taehyung was silent for a moment before he took a deep breath and spoke.
"We promised that we'd find each other."
---***---
"Why can't you come with us anymore?" Jungkook whined.
"I, um, have to do something downtown," Jimin lied, hoping his best friend wouldn't notice. He hated lying but he needed to do this.
Jin put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder, drawing his attention. "It's alright, Kookie. Trust him. Kapsida! You wanted new Timberlands, right? Let's go see if we can find them today!" Even though Jungkook had just bought four new pairs before the trip.
"Yes!" he shouted energetically. He hugged Jimin quickly before grabbing Jin's hand and dragging him outside the hotel room.
"Don't forget your room key! Be safe!" Jin reminded Jimin as his arm was flailed around like a toy.
Jimin couldn't even laugh at the comedy act in front of him. His stomach was full of butterflies. He looked at the address he had written down after his conversation with Taehyung. Tae had said that he was still in town and wanted to meet the older boy. He gave Jimin an address and told him to meet there at noon.
But he gave Jimin an ultimatum as well. He understood that they had spent the greater part of their lives without each other. He told Jimin, "If you'd like for us to start over again, please meet me here. But, if not...then I'll stay out of your life from now on."
It was Jimin's choice. He could go and get to know his brother again. Or he could stay away and lose his chance to reconnect with the rest of his family. He wasn't sure if he should go. He spent the majority of his life believing that the rest of his family was dead. When his mom left for America a few years ago, he had no one other than Jin. But that was just enough. Just enough for him to get on his feet again.
The more Jimin thought about it, the more he doubted himself. He began to think he shouldn't go. He didn't want to mess things up. He liked the way his life was.
But it was his brother. He finally remembered the first ten years of his life. He remembered dressing up as superheroes with Taehyung. He remembered spilling batter on the floor while baking cupcakes with his dad. He remembered swinging in the park as his dad pushed him on the swings and his mom pushed Taehyung.
Before Jimin knew it, he was out the door and on his way to the place he would meet Taehyung.
His brother.
