(Jeff) What the hell does Parker thinks he's doing. We were gonna tell her who Jase was. I think he's pissed at Lisa for not letting him get some ice cream. I'm gonna have a long talk with him about pulling this bullshit, but for now I'll let it go.
"Brother???? Lisa can I see you inside for a minute. There's something I wanna run by you right quick.", Belinda said earnestly
" Sure mom", said a nervous Lisa
Damn Belinda is finna piece Lisa's ass back together.
"And Jeff won't you join us in the kitchen as well. I want your opinion on something as well.", said Belinda
Fuck I thought I dodged this bullet.
" Jase, could you watch the kids while we go talk to your...Lisa's mom", I asked him
"Sure...Pops....and its OK if you call her my grandma. Truthfully she is so you wouldn't be lying.", he said
I smiled at him and walked behind Belinda. On my way up the steps Lindsay stopped me.
" Dad?"
"Wassup baby girl?"
"Just go in there and be honest with Grandma. You know she'll be able to tell if you're lying or not.", she whispered
"I wasn't going to lie...I swear."
"OK... Well good luck", she said. Then she patted me on the back.
" Daddy?", Parker said trying to get my attention
"I wanted to know if..."
"No you cannot get any ice cream. You heard what your mom said."
And with that I walked in the house and closed the door.
"Are you sure he doesn't have ADHD?", Chandler asked Lindsay
" I don't know. The jury's still out on that one", she answered
"I HEARD THAT", Parker screamed
(Inside Lisa and Jeff's house)
(Lisa, Belinda, and Jeff all walk into into the kitchen)
(Lisa) I wonder what my mother is going to say. I can only imagine. I've never kept anything like this from her before. I told her about ever important thing that's ever occurred in my life. Well truth be told I'm just finding out about this. I wonder will Jeff be mad if I turn it around on him.
My mom stared at me and Jeff for the longest time before she actually decided to say something.
" So is anyone going to say something ", my mom said
" Well you see what had happened was..."
"Belinda I take full responsibility for her not telling you. Truth be told I haven't even told my own family yet. He came to my job and told me who he was. I didn't tell Lisa at first because I didn't know what this news would do to her. I guess that was selfish of me, but I'm being completely honest with you I was thinking of my wife.", my husband said
" Jeff that was a selfless act. I know it was hard keeping that from my daughter, but as you stated you were thinking of her well being. Lisa, I'm surprised that you took the news well. I know giving up your son was the hardest thing to do. The aftermath was not pretty at all. When Russell's goons were snooping around trying to find out who killed him, you panicked. The things you went through was heartbreaking. At times I felt lesser than a mother because I couldn't take your pain away. Ill always be myself up about that. A part of me also blames Russell for being not only the worst father in the world, but for also being the world's biggest asshole. Even from the grave that man is causing trouble. I was so glad when I rid myself of him. I hope Hell's fire is keeping him warm at night . ", Belinda stated
"Mom you were by my side the whole time. If I wasn't for you, Jeff, his folks, Tracy, or Scott I don't know what I would have done. When me and Jeff would go to visit him at Sandra and Daniel's house, a part of me would die a lil Inside each time. I would go home and pray to God to reunite us with our son nightly."
"Well God finally answered your prayers. It wasn't when you wanted him to, but he answered em on time."
"We've been given a second chance babe. I'm glad to have my child back in my life. Let's be there for him in every way possible.", Jeff said. He planted a kiss on my forehead. That really eased my mind a lil bit.
" Babe continue to talk to your mom. There's something I've gotta go do.
"OK go head", I said
I'm so glad my mom didn't bite our heads off. She's nothing like Daddy but when she's angry, you better get out of her way cause she means business.
(Jeff) When I stepped back outside, let's just say thing got crazy. Parker was chasing Chase and Lindsay around the yard with a plastic bat. I'm pretty sure they'll work it out like they usually do. What did surprise me was seeing how Jason was handling the grill.
" Thanks for looking after the kids and for handling the grill while I took care of the issue at hand."
"What issue was that?", he asked
" Hold on to that thought for a sec", I told him. There's something important I have to do first.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and I texted my parents, my brother Brian, Lisa's sister Tracy (who by the way married my brother and they have a two year old son named Tanner), and Lisa's brother Scott. I told em all to come over. I have a surprise for them. They all texted back and said they would be here ASAP.
(Two hours later...)
(Jason) I can honestly say that I'm really having a good time. After Belinda and Lisa came form inside, Belinda came outside and introduced herself to me. She's very warm and wise, but I can also look at her and tell that she doesn't have time for foolishness. Parker asked her to fix him a bowl of ice cream and she snapped on him. I think he's going to get a beating if he doesn't pipe down. Lindsay and Chandler pulled up a chair next to me and asked me about my life and I answered honestly. I didn't mention me being gay yet. I'll eventually get around to it. There's a time and a place for everything.
Jeff's parents Stephanie and Wes showed up, as well as Lisa's brother and sister Tracy and Scott and Jeff's brother Brian. I was surprised to find out that Lisa's sister married Jeff's brother. Their son Tanner is an adorable kid. He favors Tracy. Stephanie and Wes are good as gold. Stephanie talked about her days as a singer. Who would have guessed that she toured with Bobby Womack, The O'Jays, Thelma Houston, and Johnnie Taylor, but ultimately she chose to settle down and raise her family. She later became a elementary school teacher. Wes use to be the ADA in Westpoint. He retired some odd years ago, but he still practices law from time to time. Wait till I tell Tyler. His dad is the ADA in town now. Tracy and Brian live ten minutes from here in a condo. Brian's a bar owner and Tracy owns her own hair and nail shop downtown called Tracy's. Lisa's brother Scott works with her at Memorial hospital. He has a ten year old named Steven and a three year old named Lauren. He and his ex wife share custody. They stay in the next town over. He gets them during the summer time, birthdays, and holidays.
Everyone here is so kind and sweet. If this is what its going to be like being in the Davis/West family, then I'm all in. Everyone here hates Lisa's late father Russell especially Belinda, Jeff, and Wes. When Belinda brought up Russell's name, Scott didn't hide how he felt about him. He put it all out there. Overall I had a great time I can't wait to get home and tell Tyler about my day.
