Chapter 14

Max's Pov:

I came out to get some food for Cullen. As i was new to this village, i am not very sure of the exact location of the hotels here. Since it is a small village and hardly a 20 to 30 families live here, the street almost seemed abandoned. It was very quite. Almost all the doors and windows were closed and lights were off. I could listen to my own breath. I came to the end of the street hoping to find someone who could help me out. But there was none. Well.. i think i need to make my journey alone. First i decided to go to my left and if i fail to find any hotel ,then i will come back and go to my right. All set.

I started walking. Its been 15 minuites and I am somewhere between tall trees and no houses. I think i am on the wrong way. I decided to go back and then to my right. So i turned back and suddenly...

"Max...Max...help me." I heard a cry. I gave a sharp turn in fear... and then i saw a girl, might be a bit older than Cullen, running into the woods. I felt like butterflies in my stomach at that sight. I stood like a statue for a few moments staring at the woods hoping not to hear the cry again. "Max.." it sounded again. The same voice. The girl is shouting again. What do i need to do? I thought for a minuite and decided to go.

I went close to the tall trees and shouted "Who is that? ". But none responded. I went further inside the woods shouting the same. But this time an answer came "Its me Max, Rosey." Rosey?!!! . Who is rosey? I havent heard of the name before. I could see none around me. But i do feel the voice near me. The girl started singing a lullaby. That was horrible. That was so terrifying. Dark woods, an invisible girl calling for help and singing a lullaby.? All this is so terrific. I started following the voice and it took me deeper and deeper into the woods. But still i couldn't find the girl. Suddenly the lullaby stopped. Wind started to blow hard. The sound made by the tall trees was like...i was dying inside. I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. The voice again "Max..you wanted to see me right? Come on. Come along with me." and it continued uttering the same words again. I followed the voice and went forth. Suddenly the voice stopped. The rustling sound of the trees also stopped. Everything was calm and silent all of a sudden. A few feets from me was a wooden box. I slowly made my steps towards it. At that moment, i was in such a situation that i wanted to die on spot.

I went close to the box. It was closed. My mind is telling me not to open it and flee away as fast as i could. But my instance is asking me to open it. It is telling me to face the present. Hmm... confused. Do i need to take the risk. I could better leave the place. I turned back deciding to leave the place. But a low feeling inside my heart wasn't letting me giveup. Well.. i decided to dare turned back and opened the box. What i saw will never get erased from my mind. Its Cullen sleeping dead in the box. I couldnt believe my eyes. Just then we rested her on the bed and now she was here. That sight dreaded me. I bent on my knees and started tapping on her cheeks. She seems unconscious. She didnt even move. What should i do? I decided to take her home. So i hugged her and tried lifting her to my arms. Just then i heard a giggle. I turned to my left and right. But there was none. I took Cullen into my arms and i stood up. I started walking back. This time i heard the giggle more louder. I turned back and there was none again. When i turned front, what i really blew my mind off. It was a skeleton in my arms. What the hell was happening. I was holding Cullen till then and now it turned into a skeleton. I couldnt believe my eyes. I threw the skeleton down and started running faster and faster. I keeled over hitting against something. I fell on something hard. I lifted my head to see what it was. It was the same box which i was running away from. I was there again. Oh god. Whats happening with me? But this time i noticed something which i havent before. On the right edge of the box It was engrossed "ROSEY". I stood up in fear and opened the box. It was a skeleton inside. Its enough. I was vexed completely. I started running. I kept on running and i was finally out of the woods. Thankgod. I ran home. I ran upstairs and went into our room. Windey was sitting on the bedside and Cullen was sleeping.

"What happened Max? You look worried and frightened. What happened?" Windey asked. "I saw wierd things Windey. Really really wierd." I said. "What?!! Where?" She asked. "In the woods." I said. "But why did you go to the woods?" She asked. "I didnt Windey. She took me." I said. "She? Who is she?" She asked. "Rosey" i said. Windeys expressions got changed. She stood still for a few minuites without a word and then collapsed.

I ran to her "Windey...windey get up. Are you alright?" I asked. I took a waterbottle from the table and sprinkled some water on her. She became conscious. "What happened Windey?" I asked. "The doll.. the doll.. Cullen named the doll Rosey." She said.
