Callie
"So, what's going on here?" I asked while opening the door to Esther's room where I saw her enter with Dylan holding hands. The two were inches apart and seperated quickly as soon as I walked in.
"Why is it any of your business? Or are you just assuming I hooked up with Dylan, all of a sudden?" Esther said to me with an attitude. I jerked my head back but knew I had to keep my cool, so I took a deep breath and got myself under Callie control.
Dylan got up seconds later and excused himself from our little fight going on saying he would be outside. I was grateful I wouldn't have to say my apology with him around. As he walked out, he gave me a smile as to which I scrunched my face at. Him and I weren't exactly friends still.
Maybe I had to add him to my "apologize list."
Looking back to Esther, I saw her looking out the window to a nearby park. I walked to the window and saw some cute little kids playing on the slide and monkey bars.
"Do you remember yourself at that young age?" I asked Eshter still looking out the window.
"Yeah. I never played there though." Confused, I looked back to her. "I was always the one little kid skating." And that's when I noticed she was looking at the skate park instead of the little kids park.
Smiling I turned around and cautiously sat on the bed with her.
She shifted a little, but didnt get up and move. Breathing in to catch my breath because I was so nervous, I closed my eyes and exhaled.
"Callie, I am not going to punch you or anything. You can trust me."
"Oh. Yeah right, I just want to fix this and not say something wrong and make it worse."
"Yeah. Understandable."
Meeting her eyes, I knew this was my moment to apologize. So I did.
I apologized for being a total brat and thinking there was actually something between her and Carson, and for not coming sooner, and not being there for her. About done with my apology I noticed I had tears in my eyes and I was sniffling.
Esther was crying as well.
"Callie, no matter how mad I was at you, your my best friend along with Dylan and I can not live without you. You do not need to apologize for not being there for me, you did not know where I was at. But you should have know I would never actually cheat on Mark. We technically aren't even together are we?" And she went on to say how she didn't even know who she hated or liked at the moment (boy wise.) After about an hour of talking about relationships, boys and ourselves, she became quiet and took a deep breath.
"Callie, I think I'll tell you why I left."
The reason she left? I had always had the thought of why she left, but never realized the feeling of wanting to know why she did.
"Okay, shoot."
"Callie, my parents, you know how they left me right? Well I came back to my apartment after talking with Mark, and.... they were in there with two kids. The had other children Cals and they had the nerve to say they wanted me back. It was just so aggravating and stressful that I ran. Tristan had once told me to call him if anything ever came up, and his vow came to me. That's why I called him." She went on to say she dyed her hair and changed her name for a period in order to stay hidden for her. Esther attended a new school where she met a girl by the name of Clarissa, and they became friends quickly and lived in the same apartment. A pang of being replaced hit me hard, but Esther stopped and took my hand. "She could never take your spot Callie, your irreplaceable and she tried turning me in."
