(unedited and partly biased)

oh. my. lord.
the amount of shipping books i've seen where it's literally just a 3rd grade essay of compare and contrast is incredible.

i'm sorry, but you people are just-- ugh, you really are.

this is an example and i have nothing against the person who wrote it, i just don't understand how this leads to a good relationship: (censored username)

These are seriously--god. Okay, so you're saying you can love someone because you both have pale skin, unusual hair and blue eyes?

Well, I guess entire races are in love with each other. Thank- Thank you for clearing that up for me I really needed to know that my boyfriend and obviously can't love each other because our looks literally have nothing in common, whoops.
I guess all identical twins must be in an incest relationship as well.

You know, do me a favor--
Tell me why you ship your OTP without listing what they have in common. If you can't do it, maybe rethink your ship and see if it's actually good or not.

  STOP LISTING COMPARISONS,
these are stupid "reasons" and have no connection to love or even friendship.

A relationship is basically where you hand someone your heart and hope that they don't chose to smash it into little pieces. Honestly, I would never give my heart to someone who was exactly like me because anyone, depression or not, could/would pull the trigger on themselves for petty reasons.

Okay, here are some reasons you should list if you want to prove that your ship is good:

• how they will comfort/support each other
• why will they do that?
• will they love each other equally?
• impact on each other's lives?
• what they admire in each other
• the traits they would love most in each other based off their past experiences/interests/etc.

THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT WOULD COMPEL THEM TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP.

  Now here's the big thing:
Proving why a ship doesn't work

Or, basically contrasting, as people do it.

"omg one likes to have a lot of fun and the other is serious!!!"
If anything, that is something that would help the relationship even more. So, sorry sweetie, you just proved me right.

Don't start pulling my leg saying that people are not in love because they have different looks (eye color, hair, style, etc.) or different pasts.

Here are some things you should list if you are telling people why the ship does not work:

• how they wouldn't be able to understand each other
• how one wouldn't be devoted to the relationship, but the other would
• is it just a friendship? why? why couldn't they take it too far? (DO NOT SAY BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SAME SEX)
• do their personalities clash in a way that one cannot support the other?
• do they have TOO MUCH in common?
• would they easily get into (NOT PETTY BECAUSE ALL COUPLES DO THAT) mentally abusive fights? why?

THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT WOULD RESULT IN A BREAKUP.

I don't know what to say other than??
• quit being a petty 12 year old that doesn't understand the concept of love and thinks they do because they've had boyfriends that they barely see and just take to the cafeteria during school

• don't compare and contrast, discuss feelings.

• don't compare and contrast, discuss feelings
