"Vanitha, we are home. Can I get a coffee please?" Raghavan called Niranjana's mom as they were entering into the house. Niranjana is happy that she got her preferred course in the college of her choice. She settled her luggage and sat with her dad and was discussing about her friends' choices too.
"Now Reshmi is also in my college, on a different department. But that's OK dad. At least I will get to see her often."
Vanitha came with two Coffee cups and handed to them. "Here you go Niru" with that Vanitha turned to Raghavan "Did you know? Ranjan met with an accident yesterday morning."
"What happened? Why didn't you tell me when I called you yesterday?" Raghavan asked her back in a worried voice.
"Bala Anna asked me not to disturb you as there is nothing to worry. Hey Niru, Where are you going?" Vanitha called Niranjana who is running to towards Ranjan's house. She was neither aware of her Mom's puzzled face nor her dad's meaningful glance.
When Niranjana entered Ranjan's house, she didn't see anybody and didn't bothered either as she dashed to Ranjan's room. She was very much tensed to notice the surprise spread in Ranjan's face.
"Ranjan, Are you alright? Mom, told me that you met with an accident. What happened? Did you check with a doctor? What are you doing? You should be resting." Niranjana was taking stock of him from head to toe to find any visible wounds or bandages.
Ranjan took her by her shoulders and shook her "Relax Niranjana. I am fine."
Niranjana then gathered herself and asked about the accident. "It is not much of an accident. A cyclist hit me when I was jogging yesterday. Nothing big. I got some bruises. You relax."
"Did you go to the doctor? Have you got any medicine?"
"Yes doctor ma'am. Got some pain killers. I was told nothing to worry."
Seeing Niranjana about to ask another question "Yes, I am having the medicine as prescribed. You better sit down. It looks as if you had met with an accident instead of me." he added with a mocking smile. Seeing his smile, Niranjana forgot the words she is about to say.
She was not aware for how much time they were looking at each other. "Hi Ranjan. Aunty told that you met with an accident. How are you? Oh is Niranjana here to treat you? Are you alright?"
Niranjana jumped hearing Swathi's voice and came back to hard reality. How stupid of her to run into Ranjan. What would he think of her? When would she learn?
Niranjana bit her lip to stop from trembling. She turned to leave the room and gasped when Ranjan caught her wrist like a steel bands. She was stunned further when she heard Ranjan addressing to Swathi.
"Will you excuse us Swathi? I have an important matter to discuss with Niranjana. I am afraid that it can't be delayed. I will call you later."
"Err... Ok. I will wait for your call" Niranjana neither saw Swathi's puzzled face nor the way she turned back in wonderment to find that's happening before leaving the room.
"There is no need to dismiss Swathi. I should not have disturbed you. Let me go." Niranjana chocked the words with such difficulty.
"No Niranjana, I am sick tired of this Hide and Seek game between us. I want to talk to you to understand certain things. Look at me." Ranjan's sharp command made her look up. The intensity of emotions in his eyes arrested her. But nothing came near to the shock when he uttered the next five words.
"Will you marry me Niranjana?"
