The locker room is empty except for a couple of boys.
"I blame Finn, to be honest," one of them says. "He was the one who let him join the team in the first place. What was he expecting?"
The other one bends down to pull his knee-pads up, "You can't just say that. That's fucked up."
"Yeah, right." He shrugs. "Everyone knows exactly what happened at that party and you know it. It was always just a matter of time."
"What did you tell the police?"
"The truth. He asked me the names of the people I thought had reasons to do it and I fucking told him."
"No way." His eyes are open wide as he says this.
"You were there too. You saw the same thing I did. I wasn't going to lie to a fucking detective. You can get arrested, you know? It's called obstruction of justice."
"You can't just assume it –"
"Yes, you can. Look, here's the deal. You can't just poke a fucking bear and walk away. In the end, you either kill it or let it kill you."
