The volcanic mountain was steaming up smoke thick with sulphur and heat. Arfion being the fire guardian inspects. "The fire is dense long in the bottom. And I sense a damaged line." He turns back to us. "Buckle up we are going down." Nalu and Eldor exchanged looks. "I think am good here. " Eldor laughs nervously. Arfion granted his wish and he held my hand tight. "Celeste and Nalu ...let me warn you...as much as I have heard about the pool of tears in the magical archives...it's a pool made up of the tears of the banished faes. They are mean tricksters. So be careful and stay close. "Dark faes as in ghosts?" I asked in an absolute whisper. He looks down at me..." you'll see soon"
We flew half our way down and half we climed down until we reached a tunnel . The stone doorway was surprisingly very cold..its chilliness make me shiver. Arfion holds my hand with Nalu close behind me.
The green and white fog started to accumulate. The walls of the vent was black lava rocks and thin veins of shiny lave lines are visible but slowly those faded as we went in deeper. The fog was so dense that it was almost suffocating. This place surely does give me the creeps.
The irregular swish of sudden gust of winds increased. Mounts of goosebumps rose all over my body as I scoot closer to Arfion.
He summons a ball of fire that gave us light in the dark dense fog...
Amy....Amy is that you baby girl...Amethyst over here...
The voice like a loud whisper...I turn my head and see....my mom! She is here? "Mom!" As I darted to her direction Arfion grabs me tight. "No Celeste...that is not your mother! That is just a fragment of your memory...the faes are playing illusion tricks at you...yield to them and you will be a part of this place..."....I again look towards my mom....as her smiling face disappears in the thick fog...as my eyes bulge out of my sockets. " Nalu be close...Nalu?" Arfion speaks louder...But no reponse. We both frantically look back....no sign of Nalu. "Oh my blue ruins...where is he...." Arfion says in a low voice.
"Hey....people....My friends...am here..." Nalu's voice floats to our ears from a distance. We look here and there until our eyes fell on our wide grinned faced Nalu.
"Where were you...we were so worried....I told you to stay close..." Arfion grumpily says.
Nalu smiles the widest. "Yes my friend."
My eyes prickled at his response. I look at him and without another thought I threw a ball of magic flamed ball at Nalu as he disappears in the fog. I build another sphere of purple flame...Arfion looks ate wide eyed..." what are you doing?"
"He wasnt Nalu.....he had no shadow..." Arfion summons his fire sword. I close my eyes...Eldor please help we need you
...the fog started to swirl violently....and we took positions....a shrieking neigh of Eldor and the strong wind of his wings darted the fog away. Eldor landed towards me....as I hugged him frantically....Oh thank you...thank you so much Eldor...."
The huge hall of green stones glowed gloomily. And a huge round pool of sparkling still water lay calm. "The pool of tears!" Arfion exclaims. Nalu was seen unconscious near the water.
"I guess he spotted the pool before us and tried to retrieve the sceptre...but i guess the green magic was not compatible with Nalu's water magic.....this only means that our last chance is you" Arfion tells me as he points towards the high pedestal in the center of the pool....a glimmering stick stook proud. "The emeral sceptre.." I whisper ...
As I was about to put my left feet in the water...it scooted away...I looked back at Arfion who encourages me to go on....with every step...the water scooted away....till I reach the pedestal .... I touch the sceptre and took it out....
I reach the steps again...Arfion engulfs me in a hug...."am so proud of you..." but our moment was short lived...The ground started to shake vehemently...."Run...."
Nalu was put behind Eldor's back as I and Arfion scrambled out...once out of The mountain...we rushed back to the mushroom grove...as we do....we look back...when the sky was filled with sooty smoke and the angry lava....glared at us as we carried back The emerald sceptre to the mountain kingdom.
