I just want to be Worthy

The Shadow Stag

            "Another corrupted animal is down this path. Once it was a proud stag. Be careful Keeper." Worthy said walking towards me. I don't understand why he's so worried about me all the time. I can take care of myself.
"Oh kitty cat aren't I always?" I said, touched his shoulder and ran off. I left him in shock before he shook it off and ran after me. l
"Kitty cat, seriously?"he said, right next to me. I laughed.
"Yeah seriously." I said and jumped with my sword out to the next enemy in my path.
Fighting was getting harder. The shadowy stag fought with a ferocity I hadn't seen before. Normally, stags are such docile animals. However, as a team Jinx and I were stronger than the stag.
Just before we freed it, the stag let out this sad noise, almost like a sob. My mind flashed back to the fight with Devin and how easily I could hear my own sobs as I ran back to the Eagle. I hesitated, the flashback turning back to the dream Ninnani had sent me about Devin and Worthy. I always woke up crying, still guilty over how it was my fault that Devin turned evil.
I came back to the present. I saw my reflection in the stag's black eyes. It wasn't me staring back, but a demon of fire and rage. I didn't look away from that reflection that wasn't my own. I spoke in a soft voice to the animal who I had caused so much harm to.
"I'm so sorry." With that, I freed the stag. Worthy came up to me as he watched the stag run off. I closed my eyes and felt tears run down my face. I wiped them away before he could notice.
"Ok Keeper. I haven't really told you the whole reason we're here, so I might as well tell you." He said, and rubbed his arm nervously. I turned towards him and crossed my arms.
"What do you mean you haven't told me the whole reason we're here?" I asked, a bit annoyed. If he hasn't told me the reason we're here, then should I even trust him at all?
                 "My friend and I were here on a mission. We were searching for someone dangerous who escaped into the tunnels." I raised an eyebrow and he continued.
                 "My friend and I stopped for a little while and when I woke up; my friend was gone. I hope that dangerous person doesn't find us or my friend." He said walking towards the next tunnel. I ran to catch up with him.
"How dangerous is this guy exactly?" I said, keeping pace next to him. Worthy looks at me, his panther eyes looking at me through the mask. The silence between the two of us grew and got awkward very quickly. Worthy looked at the ruins to change the subject to make the tension less awkward around us.
                "Have you seen the ruins that dot these caves? People lived down here once." He said, his hand glides across the ruins of a stone wall.
              "Yeah it's kind of strange. With this many ruins, we should've seen a lot more people by now." I looked at him as we walked down the tunnel. He looked at the roof of the tunnel as we continued on.
              "Where did they go?" Worthy said. He walked a little bit ahead, guiding us through the dark.
