"Theresa O'Marr." My teacher says coolly.
"Yes Miss?" I reply
"I'm so sorry I interrupted your conversation by teaching, I'll wait until you and Miss Roberts are done shall I?" She says .
"Oh that won't be necessary Miss." I say sweetly.
"And why not?" She asks.
"We've finished, you may continue." I reply. I hear muffled snickers from the rest of the class.
"Theresa and Sophie, Principal's office now."
I stand up, rolling my eyes, and take a bow for the class, motioning for Sophie to follow my lead.
"Miss O'Marr!" The teacher roars.
"Okay, okay I'm leaving!" I say. "Don't get your knickers in a twist!"
The whole class bursts into laughter, and I grin, skipping jauntily down the corridor, Sophie speed walking after me.
"Why do you do that?" She sighs.
"Do what?" I ask.
"Mess about and get sent out."
"Maybe I just don't like History." I reply smartly.
"But it's every lesson apart from the creative arts." She says, exasperated.
I ignore her, and knock on the Principal's office door.
"Come in!" She calls.
"Ahh. Miss O'Marr. Why am I not surprised? Take a seat." She sighs. Everyone's sighing at me today. "You too Miss Roberts." She says.
"Theresa, you've been here 2 months, and I can count on one hand how many days you have gone without being here at least once."
"I know, it's like my second home." I grin.
"It's nothing to be proud of Theresa."
My smile falters slightly, but I keep my mask of confidence on.
"And the truth is, I don't know if we're helping you at all." She goes on.
"What do you mean, I've improved loads! Right? Sophie?" I exclaim.
Sophie looks at the floor, her gaze shifting uncomfortably.
"Sophie, you may go back to class." The Principal says.
I watch Sophie slink out the room, knowing she'll be happy going back to class.
"Theresa, I don't think this arrangement is going to work." She continues.
"What do you mean?" I say.
"Maybe you'd be better off at a different school."
"Are you......are you expelling me?" I manage to say.
"No!" She says quickly. "I'm just.....suggesting you move on."
I stand up, angry, with tears in my eyes.
"Well I'll leave now then." I snarl, grabbing my school jumper and storming out.
I walk home, wiping the tears from my face. I'm not bothered about being expelled, I just didn't want to let Suzy and Richie down.
-----------------------------------------
I sneak it through the back door, hoping no one hears me. I've been in town for an hour. I see Suzy and Richie sat at the kitchen table, and the Principal is on the phone.
"She just left, I couldn't stop her. I'm sorry." I hear the Principal say.
"She could be anywhere by now." I hear Suzy say quietly.
"I know, and I'm so sorry. If she doesn't come home soon, I suggest that you contact the police." The Principal says gravely.
"Okay," Richie says, "Thank you for letting us know. Bye" He hangs up.
I can't stand it any longer. I run in and engulf Suzy in a hug.
"I'm so sorry." I sob.
Richie wraps his arms around me.
"Please don't scare us like that again T." He sighs.
"I won't." I whisper.

This feels a bit dramatic but oh well😂 x
