Chapter 5

So, semi-finals for the singing competition tonight. The quarter-finals and the one before that were quite easy, not many people are that good, I guess they didn't have many people enter it. Tonight I'm gonna sing Safe and Sound (by Brina, obviously) which came out when Sabs was about my age, which is crazy! To think she had a start in her career at my age!

The show went really well, and I'm through to the finals, which is crazy! It's me against a girl called Cindy, and she's really nice. But making friends with your opponents isn't the best thing to do though. Finals are in 6 days, and I'll be singing Alone Together, which is my absolute favourite song of Sabrina's. It hasn't been released as a song yet, but Sabs sang it in one of her concerts. I've learnt the words, and I just think it's so incredible! I'm so excited, and the having the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience is incredible.
It's about 2 weeks into the holidays now, and I see some of my classmates around town, but I don't really talk to them. I only really talk to Rachel, who after I left school, I found out she is absolutely obsessed with Sabrina like I am, and she's been a great support system and critic throughout the competition process. She's the only person I've opened up to about myself since Suzy and Richie.
"My parents died in a plane crash, and I was one among 7 survivors." I begin. Rachel squeezes my hand.
"You don't have to tell me." She says quietly.
"I want to." I say. "I was 2 and a half when that happened, but somehow I managed to survive. I was put into care, and for 3 years I was in a home. When I turned 5 I was fostered for the first time. They were nice enough, but I was a troublesome child, and they soon got sick of me. I've been in and out of foster homes since, and I've been with Suzy and Richie for almost 3 months."
Rachel doesn't say anything for a few minutes, and then suddenly she pulls me into a big hug.
"Thanks." I whisper.
We spend the next 2 hours listening to Sabrina, and getting to know each other better. When it's time for her to go, Rachel thanks Suzy and hugs me again before walking back to hers.
"T, your care worker wants to meets with us tomorrow, is that okay?" Suzy asks, shutting the door after Rachel.
"Yeah, sure." I reply, wandering into the kitchen.
"I'm not sure what it's about yet, but we'll find out soon enough." She says.
"Okay. What's for dinner?" I ask.
"Not sure, Richie's having dinner with work friends, and Polly and Quinn are both at friends houses." Suzy replies. "Do you want to go out for dinner maybe, just me and you?"
"That'd be great!" I grin. "Italian?"
"Of course," Suzy laughs, "What else would you pick?"
"I'll go get changed then." I say.
I change into a cute outfit (above) and we leave for our favourite Italian restaurant.

New friendship and a meeting with the care worker, what could it be about? x
