I woke up on the sofa and realized it was 8:30am. There was no way that anyone else would be awake this early after a crazy night like last night. I still can’t believe how far I went with Noah. Bringing my fingers up to my lips, I traced the edges of them as I remembered just how good it felt to have Noah’s lips up against mine. His body pressed against mine felt right, like that’s where it was supposed to be. Running my fingers through my hair, I remembered how good it felt to have Noah tugging on it, to get better access to my neck. Wait, stop the movie reel, this was not going to happen. I will NOT get obsessed over Noah Pierce; of course he’s good at that sort of stuff! He’s probably had more practice on girls at our school than Charlie Sheen has had on hookers. And that’s just what Noah basically was…a hooker! But, in the form of a Greek god with those abs and that silky hair.
Shaking my head, I stood up. I had to snap myself out of this. I made my way to the kitchen to see Caleb drinking a cup of coffee at the counter.
“Hey Elle.” He said raising his eyebrows as he took in my appearance. “Long night?”
“That obvious?” I asked grabbing my own cup of coffee to kick start my morning.
“Well, you’re still wearing your dress from last night.” He pointed out as I looked down. “Don’t worry though, it looks killer on you.”
“Thanks,” I blushed taking a sip of my coffee. I would be embarrassed to be seen like this in front of Caleb, but he’s over all the time and has seen me looking much more rough. “How was your night?”
“Oh you know, just kickin it with the guys. Not too crazy, but I know your night got much crazier,” He wiggled his eyebrows at me.
“Please,” I said turning away to cover up my blush and pouring more creamer into my coffee. “It’s all about not losing Cay, and you know it.”
“Mmmmm, so that’s it? You didn’t want to lose? Nothing else going on?”
“Of course not! How long have you known me? Would I ever go crazy like that over someone? Especially a guy that gets around like Noah Pierce?” I replied.
“Guess not, I’m just trying to keep you in check.” He said downing the rest of his coffee.
“I can look out for myself Cay. Thanks though, but really there isn’t anything for you to worry about.”
“Alright Elle, just promise me you’ll take care of yourself. I would hate to see you get hurt.”
“You don’t need to worry about me! I’m a heartbreaker,” we both broke into smiles knowing how untrue that was. You’d have to date to be a heartbreaker. “Not the other way around, but thanks for checking in with me.” I loved having so many people that cared about me.
“You’re welcome. Well, I’m going to go try to catch some more sleep before we do anything later.”
“K! See you later.” I made my way to my bedroom because even though I’d only gotten a few hours of sleep, I was wide awake and ready to get ready. I turned the corner to the hallway leading to my room when I saw Noah on the phone. Not wanting to interrupt since it seemed like an important conversation, I hid in the nook at the top of the stairs.
“I’m sorry dad….I mean sir….. I’ll be home right away…you’re right…of course it’s my entire fault.” Noah was saying. I’d never heard him sound so…subordinate before. The Noah Pierce I knew was always confident and sure of himself and everything around him. “Yea…..I mean Yes Sir….I should never have disobeyed you……I’ll pick one out when I get home and bring it straight to you….Yes sir….No sir….On my way sir.”
Flipping the phone shut, Noah hung his head and turned to make his way downstairs. Before he could see me, I walked into the first door to my left, and thankfully it was the bathroom. Staring at my tired looking face I splashed cold water on it to bring life back into my eyes. I hopped in the shower to scrub myself clean.
The whole time I couldn’t get what I overheard out of my head. Noah had never sounded so…I couldn’t put my finger on it….so…small that’s it. Like, insignificant with a touch of fear? No, that can’t be it. Look at Noah Pierce. What does he have to be afraid of?
