Robin's P.O.V.
The constant, shrill ringing of the cop's sirens was giving me a nauseating headache. You'd think after being in situations like this all the time I'd be used to it. The alert of the armed robbery was over almost an hour ago, but Batman still didn't have an idea of what to do about it.
"There's five men in there and about 30 hostages. They want the police to clear away in 30 minutes or they start shooting the hostages" Commissioner Gordon informed us.
"Do that as a fallback, but we won't let it come to that" My mentor said. I figured now we'd start the rescue, but instead Gordon responded to Batman and their conversation continued.
I let out a dramatic sigh, rolling my eyes at their chatty nature. But as I did so, I noticed a dark figure zip well over the heads of the policemen, landing on the second story of the Gotham National Bank. Narrowing my eyes, I move away from Batman and through the crowd of officers towards the shadowy figure. By the time i look up again, the silhouette is gone, but I can see the shining of a flashlight through the open window.
I pull out my grappling hook and launch it up, latching it onto the ledge of the window. Pulling myself up, I narrowly avoid the circular piece of glass laying hazardously on the sill. Sidestepping it, I move inside the building.
A shaded figure is standing in the middle of the second story room, shining the flashlight at the locked vaults. I can hardly see her uniform, but I can tell that she's no good.
"I don't think it's a good idea to rob a bank that's currently being robbed" I call out. The girl freezes for a moment before turning around to face me. I squint at the harsh light being directed a me, blinding me temporarily.
"You'd be a fool to think I'm trying to rob a bank" the girl replies sharply. Her voice is soft and gentle, though carrying a hidden dark undertone. I can't help but smirk arrogantly at her annoyed tone, and I can tell that it's getting under her skin.
"Then what are you doing dressed up like that in a closed up bank while police are outside" I test her, scanning over her black outfit. Without light I can hardly see it, but I can make out the combat boots, gloves, spandex outfit and the mask on her face.
The girl looks down at her outfit, the flashlight pointed downwards so I can realize my mistake. A strapless, furry orange brassiere is clinging tightly to her toned body. A black bodysuit is plastered on her body underneath the clothing, exposing just her slim stomach. Fuzzy orange shorts just like the top are tightly slung to her hips, a black utility belt like my own keeping it in place. Spandex pants cover the rest of her long legs, giving her an old fashioned type look. Orange lace-up combat boots cover her feet as the girl crosses her arms, showing off her orange-gloved hand. A mass of orange cascades carelessly down her back, stopping just before her waist. Under the flashlight, I can vaguely see the black streaks underneath. Fox ears are perched on her head, framing her black-masked face. Between her legs is a fluffy fox tail, swaying slightly as she shifts her feet.
"Now do I really look like a criminal to you? i thought heroes were supposed to wear weird costumes?" She says and I look away from her, realizing I had been staring. Her lips, one of the only parts of her face I can see, is lit up in a teasing smile as she poses to show off her outfit, one hand at her hips and another on her head. I narrow my eyes.
"Really , you're a hero? What's your name then?" i challenge.
She sighs heavily before launching into her speech "Well I was going to go for something original like Batgirl or Wonder Woman, but I decided to keep it simple since all the good names were taken. Call me Fox" She says with a wink.
"Generic, but acceptable" I state. The name did heavily lack originality, but I should've figured out her name by now based on her outfit. I mean, I was supposed to be a detective!
Fox looks like she's about to speak, but a bang sends us both in alert. Fox slaps herself in the head, as if suddenly remembering something.
"Duh! I forgot about the robbery!" Fox says, but I'm still slightly dumbstruck at how careless I've been. I forgot about the whole point of this whole thing! I look at my clock, 10 minutes before they start shooting hostages.
"Well are you gonna help me bring down these crooks?" Fox says and I jump out of my shock, bringing my eyes to face her. I nod, still a bit dazed.
Fox locates the staircase with her flashlight before clicking it off, not wanting to give away our location. I can hear her move towards it and I follow her, pausing only after she steps down the stairs. I really was off my game tonight!
I grab Fox's arm "Shouldn't we have a plan?" I whisper to her, knowing it'd be unwise to just hop down and stop this robbery. Not with all those hostages.
"Yeah, don't get shot and don't get anybody killed" Fox says. Shaking off my hand, she hops down the stairs. When she reaches the bottom she pauses, her mouth slightly open.
I follow her down the stairs and stop to see what she's looking at and stop as well.
Well Shit.

filler chapter just 'cause. Yeah I know Batman isn't that careless, but whatever.
