I brushed a strand of hair out of my face, wincing slightly as I accidentally brushed the blossoming bruise on my cheek.I looked over at Charlie, she was lost in thought, but a slightly sad look in her eye. She already tried to convince me it was nothing, and invited me to sit with her and her friend during lunch.
I watched her a moment longer, trying to decipher her.
I sighed softly, bringing my gaze to my notebook.
I doodled aimlessly in the pages. Mostly monsters from different hunts.
The bell soon rang and it was time for lunch.
I followed Charlie to the cafeteria.
She practically dragged me over to a table where a boy with honey colored hair sat.
My wings fluttered softly against my back but I just ignored it.
"Hey Bitch!" Charlie greeted.
"Sup Charles." He greeted with a grin. His eyes slid over to me, a smirk gracing Gabriel's lips. "And Moose."
"Hello Gabriel." I said, not wanting to be rude but I just wasnt feeling it today. More like the author wasnt good at writing conversations, but thats beside the point.
I watched as Charlie and Gabriel talked about whatever.
I noticed a few things about Gabe. His eyes seemed lifeless and dull in color, even when he laughed. His smile never really reached his eyes. It just seemed wrong.
"What happened to you Samoose?"
"Uh, what?" I balked. Was I caught staring? Wait, why did I even care?
"You have a bruise. Are you ok?" Gabriel continued. Seriousness and worry written on his face. Though in his eyes seemed sure of something.
"Im fine." I mumbled. "Just a sparring accident." That was kinda true, demons have a pretty rough punch, Im lucky to still have an intact jaw.
"Sparring? That's pretty cool. Didnt think you would be into that Samsquatch." He replied with a teasing smirk, but his eyes didnt light up like I felt they should.
"Yea. Im trained in hand-to-hand combat. My dad was in the Marines." I winces slightly upon saying 'dad'. But Im not sure if Gabriel or Charlie noticed.
You kno what? Fuck it. We're switching to Gabriel pov. Cause i cant write worth shit.
I only payed half attention to Charlie and I's conversation. My mind was just out of it. I just felt dull inside. I didnt even realize the constant shifting of my wings until after I noticed Sam staring.
I gave him a once over. A mottled bruise covered his right cheek and his hazel green eyes were unfocused at the moment.
"What happened to you Samoose?" I asked, already fearing the worst. Abuse?
He shook his head lightly. "Um, what?" He was now focused.
"You have a bruise. Are you ok?" I asked. I was genuinely concerned. If he had a home life anything similar to mine... the thought trailed off when he mumbled out an answer.
"Im fine. Just a sparring accident."
He sounded pretty honest, I was a great liar and great at detecting them.
I smirked in response. "Sparring? That's pretty cool. Didnt think you would be into that Samsquatch."
He just shrugged dully. "Yea. Im trained in hand-to-hand combat. My dad was in the Marines." I noticed that he winced ever so slightly at the mention of his father.
So that's who mustve hurt this awkward boy that my heart leapt for.
Short and shitty. Im sorry but im having a hard time with this all of the sudden. Maybe i should stick to Gabe pov?
