Something strange began. As the winter of 2014/2015 rolled on, she started putting on more weight. My brain wouldn't let me believe that it was anything other than her eating habits, only fattening foods.

Late one night, my sister and mother had a yelling fight, something to do with the weight, and some rumors going around school. She of the girls where saying that she was pregnant. Not all rumors are lies.

Next thing I know is she is getting special treatment. She doesn't have to ride the bus, she's getting driven to school. Going to lunches and dinners with our pastor, and getting all the attention from our parents. I didn't want to think it was more than fat on her stomach, that she had something else living inside of her.

Snow turned to rain, winter to spring, and she continued to grow. Our family which was already on the verge of falling apart split into half. My sister no longer talked to me. My mother and father constantly yelling. My dad just wanted to support my sister. My sister wanted to keep her child. My mother didn't want another kid in the house. At the same time, my mother was trying to get the boy who get my sister pregnant thrown in jail. My sister lied to protect the man she loved. He still got put into jail. By the end of spring break, My sister gave into our mother's wishes and decided to adopt her unborn child to our pastor and his wife.

Thomas was born Friday May 15, 2015. I was on the bus ride home when I found out, and our bus driver was kind enough to drop me off at the hospital. I ran up to the correct floor, and had to wait for just a few minutes before I could see him. When I was allowed to hold Thomas, he cried for the first time and was shortly taken away. That first moment was both happy yet disappointed. My sister didn't get much time with her child, and it broke her heart.

Hardly a soul found out, only the closest of friends and family. Her weight never went back to what it was, she didn't want it to. She was happy that she wasn't so thin and she wasn't so perfect, and she wasn't going to get her waist go back to what it was. Still, grandpa didn't stop trying to get close to her.

My mother and father where no longer speaking to each other and Jade had constant mood swings. One morning she may have even been nice enough to get a gas station small cappuccino, but it never lasted. She'd always say mean things or call me rude name like 'it' or 'that thing'. The name calling was just because sibling rivalry, right?

Things seemed to get better for her though, she got a job at a local candy store, and a new boyfriend, and car. It was just a little mess up, and she was doing much better.

She didn't even have any more terrible secrets to tell me, and I felt that we were getting closer as sisters. We even went to go see Thomas together sometimes.

I even began to trust her again, because nothing happened for 733 days. Before we get there a few small things happen, like Jade's 18th Birthday.

Our family has never gone overboard with birthdays, just some cake and ice cream with the five of us plus our great grandparents. Seven of us, never more, never less.

Jade didn't ask for much for her birthday, just the typical things a 18 year old might need for moving out or college. Although she hadn't got at all what she asked, she still seemed satisfied with what there was.

After her birthday she slowly started seeming more energetic. Plus I felt like I could finally, fully, trust her.
