Josh's POV:
It was 15 minutes into class and the seat next to me was empty. Mel was supposed to be there, but I have no idea where she is. I was a little worried. I saw her right before the bell rang. How could she possibly just disa-
My thoughts were cut off by the opening door.
"Uh hi. Sorry I'm late." I heard Melanie's soft voice. I saw Brendon with her.
"Why are you late to my class?"
"Well I-I-I-"
"She's new here and has never stepped foot inside the building, cut her slack." Brendon filled him in. I saw Melanie scan the room and she saw me with an empty seat.
"Well Mr.Urie thank you, you can get back to your class, and uh. I'm sorry what's your name?" He looked at Melanie
"Melanie Martinez."
"Ms.Martinez you can take a seat." She nodded and sat in the seat by me.
"My name is Mr.Fridman and I am your geography teacher." And I spent the rest of class focusing on Melanie.

Melanie's POV:
Brendon was a pretty cool guy. He doesn't seem like a fuck boy but you never know. In the middle of third period I got a message.

sickasfrick: hey Mel!
melaniemartinez95: uh who is this?
sickasfrick: Tyler
melaniemartinez95: oh hey Ty what's up
sickasfrick: do you want to go to a movie with Josh and I later?
melaniemartinez95: what movie?
sickasfrick: Annabelle Creation
melaniemartinez95: sure.
sickasfrick: great I'll tell Josh to pick you up at 9. Bye
melaniemartinez95: bye.

I put my phone in my pocket and looked over to Josh. He was looking at me, but looked away hoping I wouldn't notice I bet. Weirdo. I got home and heard crashing glass and screaming. Mom must be drunk again.
"What slut did you sleep with last night?!" My mom screamed. Dad always brings home sluts when mom's at the bars.
"Oh god fine! Her name was Nicky!" My mom screamed. I ran upstairs to my room and cried. My brother opened the door, came in my room, slapped me, and just said to me.
"Crybaby."

Josh's POV:
Tyler came up with this elaborate plan to get Mel and I on a date. I went with it. He tricked Mel into coming to a movie with me. I picked up Mel at nine. Her face looked a little red and she was quieter than usual.
"You alright?" She looked at me.
"Yeah. I'm just a big crybaby I guess." Before i could respond she got out of the car and walked into the movie theater. I followed and saw her looking around.
"Where's Tyler?" What was the excuse again?
"Didn't he tell you, he ended up having to babysit for a neighbor." She nodded.
"So it's just us then?" She cocked an eyebrow. I rubbed the back of my neck.
"Yeah....is that okay?" She smiled and her gap showed. Oh how I love that gap.
"Yeah, let's call it a date." She winked and laughed. I gave a nervous chuckle and we got out tickets. Annabelle Creation apparently wasn't a good idea.
