NINETEEN

It's 7h30 when I walk into the building I work in. Walking down the corridor I notice my ex girlfriend Salome who prefers to be called Sal walk down the corridor. I have been avoiding her since she dumped me for someone else about five years ago. She never told me why she dumped me but I figured there was someone else. She's been really friendly for the past 3 years and I don't know why. Since she basically told me to fuck off once upon a time,when I tried to be friendly with her. So I decided to keep my distance from her. I try to walk into a passage before she sees me.

'Khanyi!'

Damn! Just my luck

'Khanyi,where have you been? Haven't seen you in months.'

One minute she's friendly,telling me she loved me and all that and the next minute she breaks up with me,not giving a reason why. Now she wants to be all buddy buddy after she tore my heart into a million pieces. This girl is a trip.

'I have been around,just busy and I would like to get back to my work. If you don't mind'

'Well can I take you out someday. You know for all times sake'

Is she serious right now. What all times sake. She don't know me like that. We were only acquainted for less than a month. So I can't really call her an ex.She's got me confused with someone else.

'Sure,when?'

'How about lunch today?'

'Okay'

I walk past her going into the opposite direction. There's a smack on my ass and I turn around with my hands on my butt to find a smirk on her face.

'Sorry it just was there'

She says with her hands in the air as if in surrender. She winks at me before walking off in the opposite direction. I swear this girl is bipolar,one minute she wants to kill me the next it's like we're best friends. Shouldn't have agreed to that lunch.

I continue down the corridor towards my office when I notice Mr. Richardson walk out of the elevator with the one person I do not want to see,Percy. They both notice me and smile at me. Not to be rude to, I smile back. The butterflies in my stomach go crazy. Luckily I had reached my little office.

' How have you been?'

'I have been great'

'That's good and how are the kids?'

'The kids are growing Sal,thanks'

I wasn't really feeling this lunch thing and her not getting to the point is putting me on edge. I am trying hard not to be rude and I understand she is trying to make conversation but I want to get this over and done with.

'I have missed you so much Khanyi'

Did I hear her correctly. Her royal highness Sal,misses me. The one she dumped for someone else. Wow I thought I would never see this day.

'Khanyi ___ I miss us and the fun we had. The craziness we shared.I want you back. I want us back. I made a mistake by leaving you. I listened to other people and ruined the good thing we had. Sure I was happy for sometime but happiness like that never lasts. I am sorry for leaving you and breaking your heart after I promised not to.'

Speechless... I waited for the moment all year after she dumped me,now 5 years later it's right in front of me and I don't know what to say.
