I woke up to the bright light coming through the window, and an arm around my waist. My brows furrowed in confusion at the mysterious arm until I saw the silver band around the middle finger and immediately recognized it as being Mason.
Then I remembered that he had carried me to my house and put me in bed. Apparently he wasn't capable of grabbing blankets and pillows to sleep on the couch.
I flipped in his arms and rested my head against his chest so I could breathe him in. His scent was so intoxicating I wanted to bottle it and use it as a room spray.
"Good morning Bambi," Mason said sleepily.
I smiled at the long time nick name I had earned as a child and also at his sleepy voice. Ah the raspy beautifulness.
"Morning sleepy head, why couldn't you find a way to create your own bed?" I questioned.
"You were having a nightmare last night so I decided to just stay with you," he mumbled.
I nodded. I was known for having terrible night terrors for no reason. The doctors told me that some people grow out of it but for some it gets worse with age. I certainly hoped it wouldn't get worse.
When he stretched out, I used that as my escape from him. His arm came back down on air and smacked the bed when he went to resume his position. His eyes opened. "Where you going?" he asked almost pouting.
"Downstairs to get food," I growled like a hungry beast.
"Mmm," was his reply.
I shook my head and opened my door but I wasn't on my feet long because Mason picked me up and threw me over his shoulder in I fireman's hold. "Having fun there?" I asked after a surprised squeal.
"I just figured that the lovely woman that's going to so kindly cook or buy me food shouldn't have to walk anywhere," I could hear the smile in his voice.
"And what makes you think I'm going to make you food?" I mused.
"Because you love me."
I slapped his butt, "well I love Alexandra and Cassandra too but I don't cook them food."
"Yeah well you love me more obviously."
I smiled and let Mason carry me through the house into the kitchen where Cass, Alex, Natalie, Garrett, Jackson, and Liam all stood.
Natalie was the first to see us and dropped her cereal spoon which clattered loudly against the counter. Everyone's attention snapped forward.
Jackson smirked and winked at Mason, or possibly me I couldn't tell since I was still upside down. Everyone else dismissed it since it was a normal occurrence but Natalie glared.
I furrowed my brows. Was she mad at me?
I quickly dismissed the subject when Mason flung me forward and set me on my feet. I opened the fridge and saw that we had no food except for half a red onion and a slice of bread.
"Well I guess we are going out for breakfast," I sighed.
"Woo! Free breakfast!" Mason chanted.
I scoffed, "if anyone is paying for someone's breakfast, your paying for mine it's the gentlemanly thing to do."
I left the kitchen to change out of my pajamas and Mason followed since he kept clothes in the closet in the upstairs hallway like all my other friends that didn't live here.
"Who said I was a gentleman?" he asked.
"You've always been a gentleman, opening doors, picking up the tab, always giving out compliments."
