"You're a......."

"No, but I use to be.." It was an awkward silence. I looked at him and he looked at me. I pulled my sleeve back up and ran water over it.

"Is something wrong?" He asked me.

"Um, no, not really, just the normal 'I hate my life'."

"Why?"

"It's hard to explain." I replied while damping my arm with a paper towel.

"I'm Mark."

  "Alex."

" I came back in here for my schedule."

"Oh."  We walked out.

"Where do you sit at?" He asked me.

"Over there.." I pointed to the corner.

"That's.....depressing..I'm coming to sit with you."

"Depressing? Looks like you're just sitting with me out of pity. If that's the case then..."

"No, no I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry. And no, not pity, I want to be your friend."

"What's this 'friend' thing you speak of?" I smirked.

"Well how about I googled it later for you?" We laughed. I then stopped immediately. I had to set precautions for myself. I didn't want to get hurt again. We sat down and we chatted for a while. He said that he didn't know what class he had left so we both looked at his schedule.

"English? I got  English next class too,." I said in a slightly amazed manor.

"Good. We both won't be bored then." The bell rung and we walked together.

"So this is your locker? It's a long way from the lunch room."

"I know, that's why I take my sweet time." He reached and got his English book.

"Where's your locker?"

"All the way across the world....."

"That far, huh?"

"Yeah, you better go to class, if you go with me to my locker, you'll be late." I walked away and he followed. "Um...did you not hear me? I said -"

"I know what you said, and I don't mind being late."

"Why are you being so.....friendly to me?"

"I told you, I want to be your friend." The look on his face was determined. I couldn't help but recognize it and accept it.

"Okay, come."
