I was under the firm impression that this place couldn't get any more obnoxious, but I was unfortunately wrong. I can not express how bothersome this is in words, so I may as well tell the story.
They forbid me from listening in on everyones thought lines, but I refused to not use the emergency channel. It was just unheard of to tune it out, and I'm not even sure I remember how. It isn't long distance, so you can imagine my surprise at hearing my name go on over it. No, not Astrid, Kazarah. Someone knew I was here.I demanded over the channel that they identify themselves. To my shock they merely said turn around.
I was met with sapphire blue eyes. He gave me sort of a mock bow, and tapped his head a few times. I tuned in and told him that it makes my disguise falter.
"Well fine. I suppose we can stick to a more mundane form of communication. Remember me princess? You were forced to spend so much time with me, you'd think you'd remember the sound of my frequency. Infact I was sent after you." He said. I do remember his metal frequency although I wish I didn't. I think I'm going to be sick.
"I remember you, Zander." I replied with venom in my voice. I walked over and sat down at the empty table where Elena instructed me to sit while she went and got lunch. He followed, and sat next to me.
"Please darling, they will get suspicios. Call me Orion." He says.
"As if your over the top attitude won't give you away first, or are you practicing a seperate thinking and conversing dialect as well?" I ask him unamused.
"Precisely Kazarah." He smirks at me.
"As well, you should call me Astrid." I glare at him.
"So cold princess. Perhaps I have something that could have but a chance at changing your mind." He says and places a small glowing cube in front of me. He walks over and sits next to a boy with brown hair and think rimmed glasses. I look down at the small glowing object. I know exactly what this is, but how did he get it? It was rare back on our planet, so why did he just give it to me? Did he have two, and he figured no one else would ever want it, or was he ment to give this to me? He did say he was sent for me after all.
This thing is a bit like your cell phones, but it is so much more complex, I may as well be comparing a cell phone to a rock with a note tied on it. I can transport objects billions of light years, expand and contract to fit almost anywhere. The thing that makes it similar to your phones, it it's ability to connect to networks, and have real time conversations or just send messages. I have to be careful where I use this though. Your species has nothing even remotely similar to the laser screen it uses, and it would be annoying to be caught for such a stupid reason.
There is a note attached to the back. It says "I configured to to work with a 10 digit number, so to anyone else it would just look like an ordinary phone number. Your number as well as mine is on a separate sheet of paper attached to this one." I stash the transmitter in the pocket of my backpack, as well at the first piece of paper. The second piece of paper has two numbers on it. One labeled K and one labeled Z. I tear the paper in half and memorize my number. I stash it in the opposite pocket from the transmitter. I contemplate throwing his away when Elena walks up with a a few friends; they all have trays of food.
"Hey what's that?" Elena asks.
"Oh just some boys phone number." I reply.
"Ooooooo, someone's gotta crush in the new girl." Says a girl with curly black hair, and one of the darker complexions I've seen in humans.
"I bet you're jealous, Lucy." A girl with blondish brown hair accuses playfully.
"You kidding? There isn't a boy in this school worth being jealous about." She shoots back.
"Either way I don't think we introduced ourselves. I'm Angie, the nut with the impossibly curly hair is Lucy, the shy Asian ballerina is Kate, and you already know Miss. perfection, Elena." I find her funny. I was going to ask more about them, but I was interrupted by Elena.
"I'd like to know more about that number." She says. "What was the name of the guy who gave it to you?"
"His name was Orion." I reply.
"I don't know any Orions." Angie says slightly disappointed.
"How old was he?" Lucy asks.
"Older than me at least." That one was kinda cheating as he was older than me before. "Why don't we ask him. I mean he walked over here to give me his number, how different could it be." I suggest. They look at me like I just suggested pushing them off a cliff.
"We could just text him. ". Kate says.
"I like that idea better." Elena says, and pulls out her phone. She punches in his number and starts texting him. The conversation went as follows.
She sent:
Hey, this is Elena(Astrid's cousin). We were talking about you, and we'd like to know how old you are. If it's not to much to ask, we'd also like a picture... Thnx.
He replied:
Answer for you and Astrid, Five solar revolutions, twelve sessions, and eleven moons. Which transfers to over 15 years. Putting my date of birth in about your early spring, approximately Mar. 11th. He wrote a program so I did yours too. You are almost 15 as well, and your birthday is soon. Dec. 21st.
Answer to share, Hey, I'm 15, and a sophomore. As for your other request...
He sent a picture of himself. He had messy brown hair, a white hoodie and a stripy grey and blue shirt. His eyes were noticeably less blue than before indicating that it also made his disguise falter. Other than that everything seemed normal.
"He's hot..." I heard Lucy say. I really hope I don't have to explain that he's a different species later. Elena just stared at me because of the original message.
Just one more class period, and I can go home and work this out in my head.
