PROTECTIVE - JOSHUA BRADLEY

Joshua Bradley was a caring father, he had three kids, his oldest, Charlie, who had recently turned eighteen. His middle child, and his only girl, Alexa, who was sixteen years old, and his youngest, Matthew, who was ten. They were all growing up quickly, but they were still his little kids to him, and he was proctective over them at all costs.

He had strict rules in the house that they must follow. He must know all of their friends, if not, they couldn't hang out with them. How they weren't allowed to go to parties, no house parties, that was strictly off the table. They had to be home before 4 o clock every day if they go out, which was rarely. Because Josh was so hesitant about letting them go outside, London was a populated place and he didn't know if he could quite trust it.

When it came to dating, rules became stricter, especially for Alexia, the boys had rules too, but because Alexa was at that age, it meant things were difficult, and it was her dad she had to face, he was that type of dad, so protective over his sweet innocent daughter.

Her dad had told her nothing till she was eighteen, that she couldn't have a boyfriend, no sexual interaction, no kissing, no hugging, no hand holding, nothing. He told her that boys her age were trouble waiting to happen and that they would break her heart. He had told her that if she was found sneaking around with a boy she would be grounded until the day she turned eighteen.

Alexa hated it, that her dad had seemed to suck her fun, wild living teenager years away, and maybe he didn't mean to, but he had, even Alexa's friends saw it, how she always had to cancel on plans to go to a cafe or late night bowling or a house party, she instead was cramped up in her bedroom doing her homework.

Josh looked at his computer, seeing the time, it was 4:13, unlucky. It was a school night, and his daughter wasn't back yet, how strange, normally she was always here on the dot. He got out from his desk and went to the front door. Not even seeing her in sight.

So like the same father he was, he waited out at the front porch for her. Standing there tall waiting for her daughter to turn the corner, the exact minute she did, she would get a serious talking. She would be in so much trouble. Because twenty minute wasn't just simply twenty minutes to Josh, it racked possibilities that his daughter could be in danger, with someone she shouldn't be, wrong place wrong time sort of scenario.

She turned the corner, laughing, but when she spotted her dad, her eyes widen. Her dad had caught her, standing next to a boy he couldn't decipher. He stormed up to them, looking down at his daughter. He pearled down to his watch, twenty five past.

"What are you doing still out this late on a school night!" He yells, his eyes were filled with anger as he glances at the boy. The boy he didn't know. He had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, he looked nice enough, but people hid their true personalities under their looks.

"You. I don't know you. And I don't appreciate you being with my daughter." Josh was inches away from the boys face, dead on eye contact, making the boy feel creeped out. "Get inside, the both of you!" He yells. The pair rush in, Josh taking a deep breathe in, before following them inside.

They were sitting at the table. The unfamiliar boy looking around the room. Alexa was fiddling with her fingers, when she heard her dad come in she looked up at him with innocent eyes, she didn't think she had done much wrong, but for Josh, it was criminal.

He sits down at his table. "Who are you? And why are you with my daughter? She can't be around you!" He yells. Alexa Ducks her head down, hating that her father was yelling at her boyfriend. "I'm Brodie, um..." He stutters.

"Mr Bradley, call me Mr Bradley." Josh says. "Mr Bradley," Brodie repeats. "What are you doing with my daughter! Tell me!" He screams. Alexa felt like crying, she hated her dad for doing this. "I'm her boyfriend Mr Bradley," he says. Josh's face falls into a frown, his daughter had just disappeared from him, she had a boyfriend. She wasn't his little girl anymore, she was growing up.

Alexa looks up at her dad. Josh hated it, Josh hated that she had done this. Josh stands up, he paces around the room angrily. "Alexa! What happened to the eighteen rule!" He yells. "I didn't want you having a boyfriend, your to young, you don't need him right now, you should focus on school and everything else, you have good grades, friends, this boy is going to ruin it for you!" He lectures.

She starts to cry. She looks up at her dad, angry. "Why can't you just let me be normal." She had tears running down her face as she runs out of the room and up the stairs to her bedroom. Brodie tries to follow but Josh blocks him with his arm. "You can't come in here and expect to go upstairs and check on her do you?" He screams. Brodie was quiet, he had nothing he could say to Mr Bradley.

"Get the fuck out of my house! Now!" He yells. Brodie runs out, he felt guilty almost, running away from his girlfriend. But that's all he could do. Afraid that Mr Bradley might possibly beat him up.

Josh walks up the stairs, seeing his daughter crawled up in her bed, her face dug into her pillow, soft cries, Josh sits down on the end of her bed, stroking her back. She rolls over, not letting her dad touch her right now. Josh catches sight of her face, red and puffy, from her crying.

"Your a dick dad," she says. "Alexa my reasons are justified." He says.

"No there not!" She says, sitting up. "I like him dad, I do. You have to ruin it for me though, why can't you let me be happy for once!" She says, Josh tries to say something but she fires up again. "You annoy me so much, I wished mum was still here, she would understand!"

Josh saddens, and immediately Alexa feels bad for saying such a thing. "Yeah I wish mum was here too," he sadly says. He buries his face into his hands, Alexa goes to sit next to her dad. "I didn't mean that, I'm just angry." She says.

Josh looks up at the wall, not making eye contact with his daughter. "You don't have to lie. It's ok. You'd rather be raised by your mother than me, I understand." He says. He stands up, going to walk to the door.

"Dad!" She yells.

Josh shuts the door.

Josh walks to his master bedroom. He closes the door, he started to cry, his daughter would rather be with his mother than him, of course she would. He cries so many tears, he throws the vase across the room, then he throws the thing he had kept for far to long.

He smashes his wedding photo against the wall, the frame smashing into pieces, he walks over to the smashes picture and grabs out the photo. She looked stunning in that photo, her beautiful blonde hair and her pretty while angelic dress, they both looked so young, so happy, Josh smiled at he was stood next to her in the middle. She had her friend on her side, and Josh had his friend on his.

The door opens, and he turns around to see Alexa stood there. He sighs. He falls to the floor hiding his face, not wanting his daughter to see him cry, he was a well working business man, not a sappy teenagers with uncontrollable feelings.

"Get out," he says simply. "Dad," she tries. "Why don't you just go running off to your boyfriend right now! I don't care, don't obey my stupid rules. Please just leave me alone!" He yells.

She doesn't say anything, instead she does as her dad says, and she leaves.
