LOVE - SIMON MINTER

Dear Simon,

If you had asked me what love was a year ago, I would have said the most boring as see ever. My answer would have been the quote from the dictionary, that love was simple, having attraction towards someone, and that would've been our conversation.

After that year, I can't say the same anymore, I grew so much as a person and became so much more in touch with myself, learning who I was and learning about who other people were. It opened my eyes, that there really isn't two people that are the same, there's always something separating people, you can't be a clone of someone, there's always minor tweaks.

Love is a hard word to define, with the billions of people on this planet and so many sexual orientations and desires you can't put this word into a statement. Yes I know the dictionary has it down as a word, but that's just a rough summary, an overall conclusion, a rough idea. Love comes in hundreds of shapes and forms, and with everyone comes a different meaning behind the word.

You can't tie the word down, it's like the James Bond of words, always gets away, most girls love him and almost everyone is well aware with him, even if they have their opinions. Love is something so strong, so fragile, so exclusive to the one who chooses its meaning.

There are optimistic lovers, ones who know at the end of the day love will win, they know they'll end up happy before their life ends.

There are needy lovers, clingy types. Ones who need the validation of another human, people who need to be adored by someone to feel good, ones who need to be held in a grip.

There are no believers, ones who don't believe lost exists because maybe they've been broken one to many times, and for those people, I feel sad.

Simon you may not know your definition of love in two years, you may not even know your definition of love in ten years, it takes time. I hope your way of defining it though has similar views to mine, because Simon Minter, I have my definition of love.

That definition is you.
