Valerie's POV:

"You don't believe me, do you?" He asked, his green eyes looking at me with nothing but hope.

"I don't know Harry, seems illogical. Your management could never do something like that, it's your life. You are not a pupper, you are your own individual being..." I attempted putting together the new information I had received from Harry.

"Oh but Valerie, they would," Harry kicked at the ground and shrugged.

My stomach grumbled and he smiled, denting a deep dimple on his cheek.

"Hungry?" He asked.

"A bit," I remarked sarcastically.

"Let's go inside." He quickly opened the driver's door and rounded the car to open mine, I smiled and thanked him.

The inside of the diner was nearly empty, only a couple of elders chatting or reading the newspaper. The old paint on the walls was peeling off and was in extreme need of a new coat. I had spent my entire life living here, and had never thought of stopping by this place. We sat at a booth near the windows and a pretty, young lady came to serve us immediately. She blushed when Harry smiled at her and could not keep her hand steady to even take a grip of the notepad she held.

"Harry Styles?" Her face lit up, and my entire body jolted. She was beautiful and would catch his attention easily.

"The one and only," he smirked back.

"Could I get a quick picture. Don't mean to be interrupting your lunch, but this is a once in a life time opportunity!" She giggled softly. Harry nodded and she pulled out her cellphone from her apron pocket. After snapping several pictures, and not acknowledging my presence, she finally asked what we would like to order.

"I'll have a regular hamburger with a large drink," he looked up at her and handed his menu over.

I glared at the young girl, ignoring the words coming out of her mouth.

"She'll take the same thing," Harry filled in for me. "Add cheese on hers." He finished.

"Oh and love--" he called her back. "Please don't share those pictures at the moment."

She nodded and walked away holding her phone close to her body. I didn't want to speak, or even look at Harry. Countless things were running through my head.

Including our conversation in the car.

None of his words seemed logical. Modest was a professional management company and had no right to invade others' personal life. As much as I wanted to believe Harry, the events didn't quite click.

"You're being awfully quiet," He broke into my thoughts.

I didn't respond.

"What's going through your little head? So many words you're not saying," He joked.

"Harry, nothing makes sense. Why didn't you fight for us?" I emphasized the word 'us'.

"I should have Valerie. I did, but I should have tried harder. It bites my ass everyday. If I would have, things could have been much different. I'm not even allowed to be here right now, I will be in so much trouble when I get back. Management will be pissed, the boys will be pissed, and most likely the fans will also be pissed. Yet, I'll do anything for you, my love." His raspberry colored lips curled into a sweet smile and his hands played nervously.
