Pretence

It was just minutes, they turned to hours. Hours of anxiety and pain. The hours turned to days and the days eventually turned to weeks. The weeks turned into a month. A month of torture. I have been in this hell hole for a month now. The only thing I have had to eat since I have been here is the thin slice of stale brown bread and slices of some old cold pizza.

I am currently covered in bruises and have a swollen ankle and right wrist. The parts that aren't covered in bruises though which are very minimal are very pale. I really have no hope that I am going to get out of here. Everytime I am on the verge of death they always bring in a doctor who makes sure that I am kept alive but I am not helped enough to regain my strength so I just remain frail.

"I have got good news for you Alex" Richard says disgustingly smiling. I just ignore him and look at him to finish saying whatever he wants to say. The first day he said this I really thought I was going to be freed but I later discovered that I was only going to be beaten to a pulp.

"Aren't you going to ask me what the good news is?" He asks mockingly. I just continue staring at him.

"Fine since I can't keep it in I am just going to tell you. We are playing number of days" he says still showing the disgusting smile. He proceeds to drag me by my neck out of the room and I start panicking. I don't think I will handle the pain my back is still sore from the last time I can't handle any more hits on my back.

"No, please don't do this" I beg trying to get out of the man's hold. He just starts laughing.

"Please don't do this I can't handle it. Please, you can't do this to me" I beg.

"You are starting to annoy me. Shut up or I will shut you up!" He barks. I keep quiet and the whole process of me being beaten on my back by the whip happens again. By the time he finishes I am just a bag of flesh and bones. I feel like I have been broken to pieces every shard breaking up everything I thought I stood for and I was. Right now I am just a sub human beaten down and starved. I am so tired, that's all I am tired, hungry and in pain. I feel like dying. I just want to die and be out of this place.

Richard comes in with a laptop and places it on the floor in front of me. He presses a button and the screen flicks on. I see Ashton on the screen again looking strained and tired. I honestly don't want to speak to anybody right now.

"Hey Alex" he says as if saying it is causing him pain. The same amount of pain I am in. I just wave at him.

"How are you holding up?" He asks unsure of his question. I don't answer him. Richard starts laughing.

"Looks like she is angry with you my boy" he says still laughing.

"Answer him, how are you holding up?" He asks taking my face to meet his gaze. Again I don't respond. There's no use. Listening to them has no use. Being alive has no use. Having emotions has no use. Pleading has no use. I am just a living shell of a person I am a living person who is dead.

"Tell me what you want, I'll give it to you. Just let Alex go she has nothing to do with this" he says angrily.

"Not yet, patience my boy. I will tell you what I want. Thing is I am not in a hurry, I am enjoying spending quality time with Alex over here" he say caressing my cheek.

"You are going to regret this" Ashton says seething.

"I seriously doubt that" he says smiling.

"Baby just hang in there I am going to find you  I promise" he says trying to calm down.

"Don't make promises you can't keep" Richard says and takes the laptop.
