Coco stepped across the stone that paved the road towards the Academy. She'd already seen plenty of images on her scroll of what to expect from the campus, but the structure was still intimidatingly large. Her scroll buzzed and she glanced down; instructions from the school had been sent, giving her directions on where orientation would be held. There would be a brief speech, followed by them fetching their luggage.
Looking around Coco pursed her lips. From her understanding there was some form of team building at the academy. Stories of unity and teamwork were heavily referenced in information that related to the academy. She was curious about who she would be teamed up with. Hopefully they'd at least show some form of combat expertise.
"Ah, sorry." Lost in thought, Coco had bumped into someone walking opposite her in the hall. Coco had managed to stand her ground, but the poor girl in front of her had not and tumbled back to the floor. She glanced down at her, recognizing her as the lone Faunus back on the ship. Extending a hand, the girl shakily accepted and stood up, before her ears drooped and she looked nervously at the floor.
"Ex...excuse me." The Faunus girl shuffled off past Coco in a hurry. Coco let out a sigh.
Definitely not combat ready. Maybe not even people ready.
Shaking her head she wondered how such a person had managed to make it into the school. Coco followed the directions her scroll had given her and eventually found herself in a massive main hall. Students were gathered, even more groups formed this time than there had been on the docks. It had only been about an hour since the ship had docked and already so many groups had formed. In the back of her mind Coco thought about all these groups being split up when the school formed the teams and shrugged. She found her way to the back of the hall and leaned against a pillar.
There was a tapping sounds that echoed through the hall, followed by a brief screech of electronic feedback, before a voice boomed through the room.
"Good evening." A man and woman had walked out onto the stage. Coco recognized the man as the Headmaster, wearing an easily identifiable black jacket over top a button up suit and matching dress pants. He had both of his hands atop the handle of a cane in front of him and began to address the students. The woman, with a white pleated top and high black pencil skirt, was unknown to her.
"As most of you are aware, I am Professor Ozpin, headmaster of the academy you stand within. I will be responsible for overseeing your training into future huntsman and huntresses, and there are just a few things I want to make clear. You're here to train, because you believe your strength, your intelligence, and your abilities are enough to protect the people around you, and perhaps all of Remnant. Unfortunately, that is usually not the case. You are here to train because you are not strong enough, not intelligent enough, and not powerful enough to protect the world around you as you are right now. With time, you should seek to improve these attributes within yourselves, so that one day you will be ready to take on the tasks ahead of you." Coco frowned, feeling almost insulted.
"Each of you is filled with potential. Potential that until now has been lying dormant, and some of you might not even be fully aware of the potential you hold. The potential to change the world, even if it's just the world of a single individual. Hold these words close, use them to drive you to prove to yourself, your classmates, and even to me, just how strong you really are." He scanned the room as he spoke before turning to the woman, nodding his head, and walking off the stage. There were a few awkward claps, but the room mostly remained silent. The woman stepped up to the microphone stand.
"Yes well, welcome all first year students to Beacon Academy. For now you'll all meet in the grand hall and will be sleeping there for this first night. If you'll head there and begin to collect your luggage, get to know the students around you. In the morning, we'll show you where you can store your combat equipment, and begin to find everyone their dorm rooms. Dismissed." Her voice was very firm, and she turned to follow after Ozpin.
