Coco wished she'd been allowed to bring earplugs to the arena. Felicity had ensured that every single one of her followers was packed in the seating on her half of the arena. There was lots of shouting, praising, and occasionally some harsh words thrown around. Coco stood at the edge of the arena, with Velvet, Yatsuhashi, and Fox below her looking at the other half of the stage as well.
"They're so loud, how can they even hear what they're saying to each other?" Velvet frowned before looking up at Coco. "Are you going to be okay? She's a year ahead of us and she competed in the Vytal Festival Tournament. The experience she has..."
"She lost in the Vytal Festival Tournament. That's the important thing to remember. Her boy toy with the shield more than likely protected her through the entire competition, and as soon as he was gone she lost in her first round of singles eliminations. If I had to guess I'd say she's all bark and no bite. If these sorts of sparring matches are allowed I'm sure she'd try and humiliate all of her enemies, but instead she sticks to underhanded tactics and her underlings. This should be cake." Coco wasn't sure if her assumption was correct or not. At the end of the day Felicity had still managed to lead Team FLUX to the finals. Coco also held no clues as to Felicity's semblance, and could only assume her bow somehow shot arrows of aura given the lack of arrows.
"Be on your toes, always observe your opponent and search for a weakness. Do not rush into this in anger." Yatsuhashi nodded up as Coco, his calm demeanor managing to cool her boiling blood somewhat.
"Yes, please be safe! I don't know what will happen to us if she wins this..." Velvet was practically hiding behind Yatsuhashi at this point.
Fox extended a fist to Coco with a nod. She nodded back with a smirk and bumped his fist with her own.
"Don't worry, I won't let princess here walk away the victor." Coco grinned to each of her teammates as they dispersed back towards the stands. She turned, un-clipped the box from her waist, and took her mark across from Felicity.
"Now then, everyone please remain silent for the duration of this sparring match between Coco Adel and Felicity Garth." Professor Ozpin stood slightly off stage speaking into a mic, occasionally sipping from his mug. Coco raised an eye-brow and glanced at Felicity.
Garth? Her family name is Garth? Coco couldn't help but crack a smile, but it didn't seem to phase Felicity who was smiling back, standing rather casual. Screens above them lit up, and Coco watched as their identities and aura gauges filled themselves in.
"Now then, much like a real tournament match, we will be determining the victor on aura level or ring knockout. Once you are declared victor by either of these criteria, the match is over and combat must be ceased. Is that understood?" Ozpin glanced between the two of them, and they each responded with a nod. "Very well, when the timer hits zero you may begin."
Felicity continued to stand in a casual stance, and Coco furrowed her brow in confusion. Holding the box at her waist she unhooked the top of the casing and her gatling gun unfolded into it's massive form. Coco hovered her finger over the trigger and listened to the timer countdown.
3...2...1...
As soon as the zero ticked in Coco let loose a hail of bullets towards Felicity, who remained completely stationary. Coco felt a brief flicker of cockiness, feeling the match would be over in seconds, before it was dashed away. Before any of her bullets had reached Felicity they instead seemed to shoot down into the floor. Coco pursed her lips and let loose another spray of shots that met the same fate. The stonework cracked and kicked up dust as her bullets hailed down into it, and Felicity simply smiled.
Pulling the bow off of her back, Felicity pinched down on a mechanisms around the string, and an arrow of pink light seemed to form. Coco guessed right that Felicity would use her aura to fire arrows, and watched as she took aim. Another hail of bullets went immediately down into the ground in front of Felicity, and as soon as Coco let off the trigger, Felicity let her arrow fly. It was a dead center shot, and Coco managed to turn to the side just in time to dodge it.
Coco felt a pulse of her aura absorb a hit against her shoulder as she turned and stood in confusion. Another arrow came breezing towards her and she tilted her head to dodge it, only to feel it scratch across her cheek. Felicity was laughing gleefully as she continued to fire arrow after arrow. Coco thought she had been dodging them, but at the last second the arrows seemed to change direction. Coco swore to herself and let loose another spray of bullets, deciding to take the arrow head on instead of attempting to dodge it and switched to the offensive. More and more dust sprayed into the air as the hails of bullets continued to pelt the stonework around Felicity, who held an aura while Coco fired. There was enough dust in the air that it was somewhat blocking her vision, and for a brief moment when she stopped firing thought she saw something strange.
Another arrow whipped by and hit Coco square in her gut. She spit to the side and let loose more firepower. The dust that settled around Felicity seemed to brushing against something, as rubble and particles couldn't quite reach her either. Coco narrowed her eyes as she let off the trigger, as she did so the dust seemed to move on it's own. A tunnel of sorts was cutting through the dust only for a moment, and as it did so an arrow whizzed through as if following the tunnel.
Coco raised her hand from the trigger to where the air flow seemed to follow, and had to snap her hand back as the arrow nearly smashed into it.
What is going on?
Coco glanced up at her aura meter, she was quickly running low from taking damage and firing so many shots, but she felt that she wouldn't need quite as many bullets to win this fight as the thought. Coco lowered her gun to point at the floor of the arena, and began to pelt every inch of the stage with bullets. Dust and stone sprayed up and Felicity stood there staring at Coco.
"You know you're fighting me and not the floor right? Or have you just gotten so used to shooting the stone that you think that's how combat works now?" Felicity chuckled at her own joke and the seating behind her burst into laughter and taunts as well.
"Don't let her get to you, you can do this!" Velvet stood and shouted from the stands.
"Oh, I see, you think this cute dust cloud is going to hide you do you?" Felicity shook her head and knocked another arrow. With the dust cloud getting thicker Coco flipped a switch and let her gatling gun condense itself back into the dense case. She took a pose to run and watched as a small swirl of dust blew into her shoulder. Coco waited for just a second before moving out of the way, and the arrow whizzed past and hit the wall behind her. With a smirk, Coco charged into the dust cloud. More and more funnels of air seemed to push their way through the dust, and Coco dodged each arrow as it followed shortly behind the funnel. Once she was close enough, Coco gripped tightly with both hands on the case and spun to dodge another arrow. Just as she saw another tunnel form, she let the momentum carry the case from the hands and follow the path that had formed.
There was an audible thud and a gasping of breath. Coco took a breath of her own and charged through the dust with a clenched fist. As she burst through the other side of the cloud she could see Felicity gasping for breath and clutching her stomach. As coco swung her fist forward she could hear Felicity struggling to get a breath out, and a small gust of air seemed to waver Coco's swing for only a moment. Readjusting her punch as it flew she landed a square hit against Felicity, who glimmered pink for a moment and fell back onto the ground.
"With Felicity's aura depleted, Coco Adel wins the match." Ozpin sipped from his mug, grinned, and left without another word. Even the stands behind Felicity were in a dead silence. An occasional whisper broke out but otherwise everyone held expressions of shock.
Coco knelt down and picked up the case she had flung, fished out her busted shades, and threw them onto Felicity, who was laying back with an exhausted expression, struggling for words.
"Lentzman craft, special order. I look forward to the new pair." Coco stood and turned from Felicity. Her followers had seemed to get past their shock and were shouting all sorts of insults. Claims of cheating composed one of the yells, with many people attacking her fashion and personality once again.
"Let's go guys." Coco hopped down from the arena and motioned to her team. Velvet looked ecstatic and Fox and Yatsuhashi couldn't hide expression of amusement as they departed from the arena.
"THIS ISN'T OVER B-" The doors closed behind Team CFVY and shut out any final words Felicity tried to get out. Coco smirked.
"How about we celebrate with some shopping. I do need some new outfits. Nothing pink though."
