"Death?" My insides felt cold.

"Jeremy, it was worse then death. They made sure that when they were done with you, you would beg for death," she whispered.

"Who? Who did this to you?" I felt concerned now.

"If I tell you, they'll kill you," she cried.

"They won't know, if you tell me, I can tell the police an-"

"No." She interrupted.

"They are always watching."

I shivered. "Ari.."

"What is it Jeremy?"

"What really happened that night in the field?" I asked.

She sighed, and played with her fingers. "I vanished, Jeremy, and no one could save me."

Her voice cracked as tears slipped out of her eyes.

"Ari, we all thought you were dead," I admitted.

"I did too," she replied.

I didn't know what to say so I just cradled her in my arms, completely forgetting about Brittany.

(No one's POV)

Little did Jeremy know, Brittany was already sacrificed for Ari's return.

*back to Jeremy's POV*

Ari fell asleep in my arms. I walked to my bedroom with her still on my grasp.

I laid her on the mattress and covered her with blankets. I was about to walk out of the room when I heard a faint whisper.

"Don't leave me..not again," Ari silently begged.

I couldn't stand to see her like this. I shouldn't have left her that day. She still would have been here and Brittany would be safe.

Brittany.

I got out my phone and quickly dialed Brittany's number.

It rang for about 3 times and I hung up.

Crap, I kept repeating in my mind.

I couldn't leave Ari.

But I had to save Brittany.

I tried calling her again, maybe her phone was dead.

Yeah, like that would happen.

Finally someone answered the phone.

"Brittany, you're alright, I thought something bad happened to you," I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.

But the voice on the other end wasn't Brittany, but it was familiar.

"Thank you," the voice said. And with those final words, the voice hung up.

Thank you.
