*Jeremy's POV*

My eyelids felt glued shut. I tried to force them open but failed.

"Hello?" I shouted, hoping someone would answer.

"Why do you question your decision?" The voice boomed.

"Guilt," I whisper.

"Therefore, we must take Ari. But please know that it will not be quick, it will be painful," the voice said.

Then, my eyelids opened. I looked around and saw the field.

Was it just a dream? Or were they really going to take Ari?

I felt my feet running before I knew what I was doing.

I couldn't save both girls.

The question is..

Which one is worth saving?

*Ari's POV*

I didn't know if Jeremy would hate me after I told him the truth.

He probably would, but he needs to know.

I sat up, my legs feeling like jelly.

I groaned and pulled on a sweatshirt.

It was Jeremy's and I smiled. But then, I found myself frowning.

He would hate me.

He is going to hate you.

I am being selfish, not telling him. Letting him sacrifice Brittany for my own wants and needs.

I grabbed an apple and chewed a bite off.

Suddenly, the door flew open. Jeremy rushed in, his face pale as ever.

"They're coming," he whispered and collapsed to the floor.

*time lapse* (3 hours)

~Ari~

"Shh..it's okay, Jeremy," I whispered, comforting him. "You're going to be okay."

He mumbled something I couldn't understand then fell into a deep sleep.

I needed to tell him before they kill Brittany.

Torture my ass.

They would kill Brittany, and they will do it soon.

I shook Jeremy, and regretted it.

His eyes flew open and he looked around.

"What?" He snapped.

"I need to tell you the truth," I replied, hanging my head down.

"About what?" He asked, wearing a worried expression.

"What happened in the field," I blurted out.

*Jeremy's POV*

"What happened in the field," she said.

I tried to look her straight in the eye, but she wouldn't look up.

"Ari," I said. "Tell me everything."

And she did.

She told me about how the voices tortured and beat her. For 3 months, she lived off of pain.

The next thing she said made me freeze in my bed.

"I died later that day," she whispered.

"You.. W-what?" I stammered.

"I died," she cried, tears running down her face.

"How are you h-here?" I asked.

"I don't know," she replied. "I wasn't supposed to be given a second chance at life."

I stood there shocked until she spoke again.

"I should have died on that field," and with those words, she raised a knife and plunged it into her stomach before I could stop her.
