Chapter 8

The house

Inside place perfectly a smaller box atop a Suicide Squad comic book and a Green Arrow comic. Rose smiled and pushed back a single strand of hair as she pulled the small box. Slowly she opened the box and saw a glint of silver. "Oh my god Carl," She sighed. Inside the box was a silver ring with a red jewel in the middle and along the outside it said Love In cursive. "This is the most beautiful gift I have ever gotten. Carl I love you." Rose kissed Carls cheek. "Here this is for you." Rose handed Carl a heart box then 3 boxes from largest to smallest. "Wow Rose! This is a lot of presents." Carl said with a shocked look. "I know but open them." Rose bashfully replied. Carl grasped the smallest gift and opened it. Inside was 3 packs of collectors trading comic book cards. The second box was a new pistol and 2 ammunition packs the biggest box held a green arrow statue. Finally Carl opened the heart shaped box inside was a beautiful drawing of Carl and Roses first meeting. Underneath the sheet was chocolate. "If you lift the chocolate container up there is one more thing inside," Rose gestured at the box as she spoke. Carl found a note it read,

Carl,

From when I heard your voice before I fainted due to blood loss I feel in love with you. I know now that you too love me and this is the happiest I have ever been, but there is a downside your dad he needs to know so I think we should tell him today. Other than him I don't think I could be more in love with a single person than I am with you. Carl, I'm in love with you and there is nothing you or I can do about it. I hope for you to only except and love me. As I do with you so my dear sweet love remember me forever and always we all love you. Remember that I will always love and hold you dear.

Forever yours

Rose

"Rose that is a beautiful note, Thanks." Carl smiled at her. Rose half smiled then stood up, "Come here," she instructed. Slowly Carl walked over to her as she held out her hands. Rose opened her purse and pulled out an iPod and headphones. She gave Carl one of the headphones and placed the other in her ear. "My hands go like this and yours go like, perfect!" Roselyn smiled. Rose had placed her hand on Carls shoulder and one in his hand. The hand Carl had free was on her hip. Together they danced or spun because neither one of them knew how to properly dance. As the day progressed Carl and Roselyn played tricks on each other did chores and watched baby Judith.

2 days later

"Clear!" Rose and Carl both yelled at the same time. Rose laughed and Carl showed a smile. "Your dad doesn't seem to care much about our relationship." Rose said. "Yeah I know it's weird I thought he would be like denied us to ever hang out but ever since...." Carls voice trailed. "Ever since what Lover boy?" Roselyn asked as she hoisted herself on the old dinning table. They were scavenging with Rick looking for more supplies. Judith was running out of formula and Roselyn brought them to her old neighbors house. They had a baby a little bit younger than Judy. "Carl I'm going upstairs stay down here with Roselyn," Ricks voice seemed annoyed when he said her name. "I don't think he likes me that much anymore, well at least were happy." Rose sighed. As she looked into Carls gray blue eyes. She has never felt so happy and loved in her whole life, she was sad they had to meet in a zombie apocalypse though. "Well let's see if they have anything good." Rose sounded happier. She hopped off the table and began to search the kitchen for food. "Score! Oreos and goldfish!" Rose yelled. She turned around and she held a huge box of goldfish and marshmallow Oreos. Suddenly they heard a loud crack. What was that?" Carl asked as he raised his gun.

Roselyn look scared as she shrugged her shoulders. Roselyn looked up and saw the ceiling cracked. "Carl, look that's the bonus room we have to tell Rick, like now." Rose whispered. She threw the food into her pack and ran up the stairs. "Rick!" She yelled. "Don't go in the bonus room! To many walkers! The floor is breaking under the weight!" Rose screamed desperately. A door opened slowly and Roselyn pulled out her knife. She let out a sigh of relief, it was Rick. "We should go if you got formula, Carl and I didn't find anything," Rose looked at Carl and winked at him with the last words. "Come on Daryl is supposed to teach me how to shoot his crossbow. Then Carl and I are going to play cards." Rose impatiently added. "Fine Roselyn." Rick replied. As they left the house they heard a loud crash. "The floor must have broke we should go now!" Rose sounded nervous. They all got in Ricks Hyundai Tucson and drove back to the prison. "The walker build up seems to be getting worse, doesn't it?" Carl asked. Rose nodded her head and held Carls hand she was in the back seat and he was in the passenger seat. "Rick just so you know I am thankful you are letting me be with Carl." Rose whispered.

Rick nodded as his response, since they started dating Rick barley talked to Roselyn. He also started to call her Roselyn again, she thought he no longer liked her. When the reached the prison Roselyn pulled Carl off to the side. "I don't think your dad likes me anymore, I think we should break up. It might be the best thing for the group." Roselyns voice shook and cracked as she spoke. Her eyes teared up and turned from Carl. He looked at the gravel road and took of his hat, he placed it on her head and turned her around. "It's not about what's best for the group it's about what's best for us." Carl held her in his arms as she cried. Rose grasped his cheeks and pulled them close. Everything slowed down the walkers were gone. The prison faded Rose and Carl were in a meadow alone. She kissed him, this is what she wanted there first kiss to feel like but it was a spontaneous kiss. This this was perfection, they were alone and in the real world before the apocalypse happened. Her foot lifted from the ground and there lips left and the trance was gone. They were back at the prison walkers were at the gates and everyone was were they belonged.
