Chapter 16

~ Who will notice the Easter Egg first? Hadn't actually written this chapter with the intention...it just kinda worked out that way :-D ~

Rin had already run outside and was showing her dress to Sesshomaru with the 100th twirl. I opened the door to exit and join them, but couldn't help but stop and notice one of the mannequins from the display window had lost its garments.

Did he?

"What is this place?" Sesshomaru asked as he took in the large building I stopped in front of.

"This is a museum of science, more specifically a kid's museum." I answered.

"What's a museum?" Rin asked this time.

"It's a place that carries a collection of knowledge being displayed for people to view and learn from." I explained as I approached the ticket center.

"2 tickets please" I handed the teller my card.

Sesshomaru's ears perked noticing the numbers didn't match up. Before he could ask I handed one to each of them, "my appointment starts soon and it's going to take some time. I thought you two might enjoy checking out this place while I'm there." I answered his unasked question.

"Appointment?" Rin piped up, "what for?" Oh yeah, she didn't know anything of our conversations

"I was feeling a little funny before we came through the well, so it's just a check up to make sure I'm all good. It's nothing you need to worry about."
I told her, "And as for you" I changed my direction to Sesshomaru, "please behave and be nice to the humans in there. They mean well" I pleaded with him, afraid he'll throw someone into the wall just for accidentally bumping into him.

I started to step away, but felt Sesshomaru's presence like I knew he was about to try and stop me, and turned back to him; grasping his hand in hopes of a gesture of faith, "I'll be back as soon as I'm done. Trust me." And then I swiftly walked away before he could try to argue.

Signing in for my appointment was the most nerve wracking moment I've had all day. The nurse looked from me to the ID I gave her about 10 times while the sweat drop on my head grew larger and larger with each passing second. "I came from comic-con" I had finally managed to come up with, chuckling nervously.

She finally shrugged her shoulders and logged my arrival.

Then after an hour stuck in the waiting room, half hour wait for the doctor to arrive in the room and then the procedure I was finally able to leave that place. It took everything for me not to run out the doors and shake off the heebee jeebees I got after having some clinical strangers hands on me.

"Sesshomaru!" I stopped in surprise as he and Rin were waiting just outside the door. Rin was sitting just on top of Rhys's back who was lying on the sidewalk.

"You didn't go to the museum?!" I exclaimed, exasperated that he would have Rin wait out here this whole time.

"We did, actually. Halfway through, Rin demanded that we come find you immediately."

Rin had already jumped off Rhys and looked like she was about to explode waiting for Lord Sesshomaru to finish. I was surprised she didn't just cut him off, but with him she probably knew better.

"You're not a mistake!" She finally burst, sounding like she also let out the breath she'd been holding.

"Umm, what..." I trailed off not really sure how to react to that outburst.

"The lady in the museum was talking about 'genes' and telling us how a mommy and a daddy both with black hair could have a child with red hair if it was a gene passed down through the blood." She gasped, her words spilling out in one breath.
