Chapter 37

"Yuki!!" Koga's voice resonated across the stone walls as he entered the giant cavern that was their den.

Rin hopped down from his shoulders and quickly came around to my side and held onto my arm as he set me down.

I could feel the eyes of all the other Wolf demons watching me and Rin curiously while Koga disappeared in search of 'Yuki'. I had too much going on to worry about them, but I could tell by Rin's tightening grip on my arm that it bothered her.

"Hey," I grabbed her shoulder and shifted her to look at me. Another contraction came and I balled the material on her shoulder in my fist and growled through my gritted teeth. It passed and I patted out the wrinkles as I exhaled deeply, "You're the bravest child I know. What has you so scared Rin?" I asked softly, trying my best to give her my focus for the moment.

"You know how Lord Sesshomaru saved me with his swords?" I nodded my head, "Well...it was wolves that had killed me. A pack of wolf demon's raided the village I was in, and their wolves attacked me."

'Oh god...this has to be terrifying for her...and yet she stood up to Koga and even punch him just for me.' Since I wasn't moving fairly well, I grabbed her hand and pulled her to me, wrapping her up in a comforting hug. "You know that as long as you're with me I won't let anything happen to you, right?"

As I said that Rin slowly took her eyes off the demons scattered around the cave back to me. She let out a deep breath that she had been holding and finally nodded, managing to put on the smallest of smiles for my sake.

"And you just left her there?!" A woman's voice shrilled. The sound of footsteps quickly shuffled closer and then the sound of what I assumed was Koga getting swat across the back of the head was what resonated next.

I couldn't hold it in and screamed again as the contraction came back quicker and more painful. Tears brimmed my eyes as I looked up at the lady who stopped in front of me.

"My, my dear. It looks like we've got ourselves a litter on the way, huh?" Her voice was soft and sweet as she tried to sooth me, but my emotions started to get the better of me and I just shook my head and whimpered a 'uh uh'.

She reached out and combed her hands gently across my stomach like she was feeling for something. Occasionally she would stop and lightly press her fingers against certain areas then carried along.

"No? But your body says otherwise." She said, still so calm and patient.

And that's when the waterworks started and I shook my head vigorously. "No, I'm not ready." I cried.

"Unfortunately, that is not for you to decide, dear. Now, come." She grabbed my hand to help me stand and move, but I stumbled as another contraction hit and fell to my knees. I turned from her and held to the wall with my forehead pressed to the cold stone as I screamed until it turned into a whimper, then more tears. Again I shook my head as I kept it pressed against the wall.

"No, I can't do this on my own." I hiccupped, "I need Sesshomaru! I need Sesshomaru!" I repeated as I weakly thumped my fist on the wall in desperation.

Yuki didn't say anything at that point, she just reached around placing her palm on my neck for a moment, then she shuffled off.

"I assume Sesshomaru is her mate?" She asked Koga who just huffed and nodded in response, "then go get him, now." She ordered.

"But, I just brought her here exactly as he asked. Isn't that enough?" He whined.

"It is not healthy for her or the babies if she holds this in. If they are to come they are to come, but if she can't calm herself- just get him now!!" Yuki had tried to keep her voice light and calm until the end when she lost her patience with Koga. During all this though I was only half paying attention as I couldn't hear them over my growls and screams from each contraction.
