Chapter 15

"It's in my uterus...where your child will be incapable of growing and seeing the light of day once you've destroyed it." I told him. I could feel a knot churning and twisting in my stomach just at the thought of him trying to remove it.

Flexing his claws he watched them in consideration for a moment before lowering his hand. Looking from my stomach up to my eyes for a moment he nodded in final approval.

"Like I said, I don't want to waste any more time."

"I can't wait, Corrine! This is going to be so much fun!" Rin shouted as she peered down into the well.

It had taken a lot of convincing, but eventually I got Sesshomaru to cave and agree to allowing Rin to come along with us over to the Modern Era...yes, US...I was now a flight risk, so Sesshomaru was not going to let me out of his proximity the second we stepped down on the other side.

"Now remember, we must not talk to others unless necessary and keep to ourselves." I reminded her as I thought about how Sesshomaru and I would look to the humans.

Rin nodded her head swiftly with pursed lips like a little soldier taking orders.

"And remind me why Rin is coming, too?" Sesshomaru asked from behind us.

"Because," I started, picking Rin up to get ready for the jump, "It might take some time before everything is in order," I vaguely referred to my procedure since we were in front of Rin, "And I bet we could really have some fun in the meantime. I'm sure playing with Ah-Un while following you everywhere can be fun, but all kids should get to enjoy a great adventure every once in a while."

"I agree with Corrine!" Rin shouted, wrapping her arms around my neck and squishing our cheeks together.

"Then it's decided" I giggled and quickly jumped down the well before Sesshomaru could change his mind.

We reached the rooftop where we first met in mere minutes after we leapt from the well.

The second I touched down I let her down and ran for the stairs with her little hand in mine "Rin, I want you to meet a friend of mine" I told her excitedly, not able to wait any longer.

Sesshomaru just followed behind at his own pace while we scurried ahead of him.

"You have a friend?!" Rin exclaimed in surprise, automatically imagining a human.

I stopped at a kneel at my doorway, slipping the key from the pocket just inside my boot. "Yes, I have a friend" I exclaimed back at the surprise in her voice. "And I'm sure he'll just absolutely love you" I added as I stuck the key in the lock.

"He?" Sesshomaru questioned coldly as he reached the bottom of the stairwell.

"Oh hush" Is all I answered him with as I chuckled at his jealousy. "Meet- Rhys!" I exclaimed his name louder as he tackled me to the ground before I even fully opened the door. "I know, I know. I missed you too, buddy" I chuckled against his fur that tried to smother my face. Satisfied that it was truly me, he finally let up after a few more seconds and made his way curiously to Rin who had been jumping in place with bulging eyes watching Rhys.

As if they had known each other forever, Rin and Rhys started running about the hallway with each other like they were long lost friends. I just shook my head with a chuckle as they darted passed and looked back up to Sesshomaru who just watched me blankly with a quirk to his brow.

"Can I help you?" I asked as I just reached a hand up to him from where I sat on the ground. His fingers gingerly laced through mine and with the tiniest tug he had me off my feet and against his chest, my other hand instinctively laying on his shoulder to balance myself.
