Chapter 16: A Date

"So you're going on a date with Kourin?" Kai asked as he looked at Aichi making flower bouquets.

Aichi nodded at Kai's statement, "Yes I do. I'm quite nervous about it though, it's my first time going on a date."

"I see, be careful then." Kai told him.

"Um, why?" Aichi was confused on what Kai said to him.

Kai sighed and crossed his arms, "Don't drink wine."

"I don't see what's wrong with-" Aichi then realized what he meant and his face got red. "Kai-kun!"

Kai smirked and then looked at the entrance of the shop, he saw that there are costumers and he let them in. While Aichi still couldn't stop blushing.

It was afternoon and Aichi was at his room, he's looking at himself on the mirror while he arranged the tie of his suit. He took a breath a few times to calm himself down, he's nervous about what will happen to his date with Kourin. And he's even the one to ask her out.

Flashback

"Kourin-san, um..." Aichi looked at Kourin as she was looking at the flowers on his shop.

"Yes, Aichi?" Kourin looked at Aichi.

"Can we... you know... have a date? I think that's one of those things we can do to convince everyone..." Aichi explained and scratched the back of his head, he blushed.

Kourin then smiled and agreed, "Of course. When?"

"Uh... Tuesday afternoon? If that's okay with you." Aichi suggested.

"Sure, that day then. Let's meet at the park." Kourin said.

"Thank you, Kourin-san!"

End of Flashback

Aichi combed his hair a little and stared at the mirror, "You can do this, Aichi. It's only a friendly date." He muttered to himself and gave a small smile before going out.

Aichi reached the park where he agreed to meet Kourin, he didn't see her so he waited for a while. He looked at the flowers on the ground and he kneeled to pick one.

Just as then he couldn't see anything, hands were covering both his eyes and he got a little nervous.

"Guess who?" He heard a familiar voice and he smiled, he chuckled and took the hands off. He glanced.

"Kourin-san.." Aichi stood and looked at Kourin.

Kourin smiled back and Aichi blushed, he noticed how beautiful Kourin is with her emerald green colored dress.

"So... shall we go to our date, Aichi?" Kourin asked.

Aichi nodded and looked at the flower on his hand, "Kourin-san."

"Yes?"

Aichi went near her and puts the flower on her ear. "That looks better on you."

"H-huh?" Kourin blushed too and she looked away.

"Anyways, we should go." Aichi held Kourin's hand and they went on their date.

As they were at their date, they decided to go on the plaza where they watched local live bands performing Jazz and Rock music.

Aichi noticed that Kourin also liked those music too, and he is glad to have the same tastes as she does.

Suddenly, Aichi saw the next band about to perform is very familiar.

"Presenting, the next cover band!" Said the announcer.

The members then appeared and Aichi's eyes widened.

"Kai-kun, Miwa-kun, Naoki-kun and Shingo-kun!" Aichi said.

Kourin blinked at Aichi as he said those names, Kourin then also looked at the stage and was shocked too.

"Everyone, we're a random cover band that is gonna give you our favorite rock songs!" Miwa said, "And I'm gonna introduce the members! First of all, I'm Miwa, the bass player and vocalist! Kai, the guitarist and also providing the vocals! Shingo, the rhythm guitar! And Naoki, our drummer!"

Everyone clapped their hands and gave a round of applause.

"Our main vocalist isn't here, but the next time he's going to join us!" Miwa said and then the band started playing.

"Main vocalist? Who's that, Aichi?" Kourin asked as she looked back at Aichi.

"Well um... Right in front of you..." Aichi said bashfully and gave an awkward smile.

Kourin was surprised, she gasped and watched as Aichi laughed awkwardly and looked away in shyness.

"Aichi, you know.. I want to admit that you're the best person I met ever since I came here. I'm glad that I met you." Kourin told him and held his hand.

Aichi looked back and stared at Kourin, he held her hand back. "Kourin-san..."

The two of them stared at each other's eyes and they just stayed like that for a while. As they do, Kourin would blush when Aichi went near her face. The music kept playing, and Aichi hummed along.

Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you

Kourin pulled Aichi near her and until their noses touch, both of them got nervous.

"Kourin-san, I..." Aichi mumbled and he had to embrace her.

"Aichi..." Kourin gulped in nervousness as Aichi leaned on her. She closed her eyes and waited for something to happen, maybe it was just herself and her imagination, but something tells her that something really would happen. Like a scene straight from a romantic silent film.

And it did happen.

She felt warm lips against hers, and that's the only thing she knows.

'My first date... and first kiss... I think... this is the best thing that happened to me this summer... I'll never forget this...'
