The next two weeks fly by, and the next thing I know, it's the day before Victory Tour.
"Prim! There's someone here that's very important that needs to talk to you!" Katniss yells.
"I'll be there in a few minutes!" I yell back.
I quickly change out of my pajamas into a long black skirt with a white sweater and black leggings. Then I quickly divide my hair into two braids and slip on my black flats as I run down the stairs. I abruptly stop at the bottom of the steps when I see who's in front of me. It's President Snow.
"Hello, Ms. Everdeen." He smiles at me evilly.
"H-h-hello." I stutter. Katniss's face is white and my mother looks like she's about to faint.
"Let's have a chat in the office, shall we?"
I nod and follow him into the room where I do my homework.
"Come sit." He motions for me to sit across from him.
"Would you like some tea?" Katniss interrupts as she walks in with a tray.
"That would be lovely." President Snow replies.
She sets down the tray and pours him a cup. Then she quickly gives me kiss on the head and walks outside.
"I have a problem, Ms. Everdeen. Would you like to take a guess at what it is?"
"I've caused it. That's for sure." I mumble.
"Yes. Now, before we start going into a deeper discussion, let's agree not to lie to each other."
I nod. "Yes sir."
"You've caused disruption amongst the districts. All because of that little knife that you pulled out."
"I don't understand. I pulled that out so Peeta could live."
"Yes, but the Capitol wanted both of you to live. Mostly you."
"I didn't know that."
"Well, it's too late now."
"I can't do anything about that."
"I'll tell you what you can do. But if you cause an uprising, I'll do anything in my power to stop it. Just imagine all of your loved ones, dead. Everyone you know. Gone."
He sips some tea and then shows me an image of Peeta spinning me around, and I keep screaming at him to stop but I'm laughing anyways. I also see my mother and I giving a little girl some pain medicine while she's screaming her head off. And then, lastly, I see Katniss and I laughing together as we pick flowers from the meadow.
I gulp. "Soooo....what do you want me to do?"
"I want you to show the Capitol and the districts that you're one of us now. Don't mention the games. If someone asks you about the little knife stunt, ignore them. And convince me that you love Peeta like he's your brother. Because some districts aren't convinced, and they think that it's an act of rebellion."
"Yes sir."
"It was nice talking to you, Primrose. And remember, we're always watching." President Snow smiles and then he stands up and walks out of the room.
He's never called me by my first name. And he smells like blood. I shudder. Isn't this a too much pressure to put on a 12 year old?
I suddenly notice Katniss walking in.
"Prim? Are you okay?"
"I-I'm fine." I reply.
"You don't look fine. Your face is pale."
"I'm okay, Katniss. Don't worry about me."
She feels my forehead. "Your head is a bit warm. Go take a nap."
"Okay." I reply.
I head upstairs to my room and start to cry under the covers. Snow's words keep replaying in my head. Just imagine all of your loved ones, dead. They can't hurt Katniss, Peeta, and Mom! I can't even get his smell out of my nose. I'm starting to hate all roses. Except for Primroses. This is too much pressure for me. I scream into my pillow.
Katniss suddenly rushes into the room.
"Prim? I heard you scream."
"I'm sorry. I'm just under a lot of pressure." Then I start to cry.
"Shhhh. It's ok." She strokes my hair and hums a lullaby.
I start to close my eyes and she kisses my forehead.
Then I fall asleep.
