Chapter 14

For some reason, I wake up early the next morning. Since I can't go back to sleep, I decide to take a shower and get dressed. After I brush my hair and put on some clothes, I walk down to the dining cart. Surprisingly, I'm the only one there. Not even Effie, who is usually up from 4:00, isn't awake.

An Avox comes out and serves me a breakfast of fruit and yogurt with a plate of eggs and some orange juice.

"Thank you." I tell her.

She nods at me and then walks back to the kitchen.

"Good morning, dear." Effie says.

"Good morning. " I reply.

"Since you and Peeta have already done your training with Haymitch and I, we're going to only train you two for about half an hour, and Katniss and Leo will train with us for an hour." She says.

"Okay." I say.

A few hours later, after I've finished my breakfast, everyone else wakes up. I'm immediately sent to Haymitch for training.

"Hi." I say.

"Hey. So, for the interviews, you'll be doing the same as last year. Act innocent and cute. The audience already loves you for that."

I nod.

We practice for my interview by having me answer a few questions. It's just like last year.

"Okay, good luck." Haymitch says when we finish.

"Thanks!" I say as I walk out the door.

I head over to Effie and she takes me to a room full of dresses and high heels.

"Try this on!" She shoves a heavy blue dress into my hands.

I take off my clothes and try on the dress.

"Remember, not above the ankle!" Effie says.

I lift the dress up a little and try to walk.

"Wonderful! Now try on these heels!"

I slip on a pair of white high heels and almost break my leg when I walk.

"I'm not going to have to wear these for the interviews, right?"

"I don't think so. But you're done! You may go now."

I nod and change out of the dress.

"Thanks, Effie!" I say and head out the door.

As I'm walking to the dining cart for lunch, I bump into Peeta.

"Oh, sorry!" I say.

He laughs. "It's fine."

After a while of us walking down the hallway, Peeta finally speaks.

"So, do you want to head up to the roof when Katniss and Leo finish training?"

"Sure!" I say.

"Let's make a picnic." Peeta suggests.

"Good idea." I reply.

"Hey guys." Katniss says from behind us.

I turn around and also see Leo.

"Hello." I say and give her a hug. "Do you want have a picnic on the roof?"

"Of course!" She says.

"Yeah." Says Leo.

I laugh and we all head to the kitchen. Katniss and I make sandwiches and we pack some chips while Leo and Peeta make some cookies. I also pack some water and juice.

"Hey!" I hear Katniss yell.

I turn around to see what's going on and a handful of dough hits me in the face. Peeta laughs.

"Not nice." I say.

He just laughs even more.

I grab the bag of flour and slowly stand on the chair behind him. I raise the bag of flour and Katniss looks up at me and grins. Peeta notices and also looks up at me. He suddenly realizes what's going on but it's too late. I dump the bag over his head. And then I fall onto the floor and start laughing. Katniss and Leo soon soon join in.

"Never mess with Primrose Everdeen." Peeta coughs on flour.

I laugh even harder.

But then Effie bursts into the room.

"Primrose Everdeen! What are you doing!" She screams.

"Having fun." I say.

"Go clean up!" She exclaims.

"Yes ma'm." I sigh and walk upstairs to my room with Katniss.

"That was fun." Katniss says as I slip on a pair of blue shorts.

"I know." I reply as I put on a white shirt.

"Let's go downstairs." Katniss says.

"Wait, can you braid my hair?"

"Sure."

Once she's done we head downstairs. Peeta and Leo are waiting for us in the kitchen. I grab the basket and a blanket and start climbing up the ladder.

Once we're settled on the roof, we start eating our sandwiches.

"These are good, Prim! What's the orange stuff?" Katniss asks.

"It's called Peanut butter. That's what Effie told me."

I hold up one of Peeta's cookies and admire the design.

"These cookies look amazing!" I say and bite into one. It melts into my mouth.

I lay down on the blanket. My eyes start to close as I stare at the blue sky. And then Katniss starts to sing. That's when I fall asleep.
