Chapter 9
The plane started its rough descend with Lynn holding onto my arm for dear life.
"Lynn, Lynn you're cutting off the circulation in my arm please let go. Lynn!"
"Lanette if you complain again I will break your arm do you hear me."
I rolled my eyes at her dealing with the shooting pain going through my arm, her grip tightening again when the wheel touched the runway, bouncing slightly before settling firmly on the floor an uproar of clapping and cheering for the pilot. Lynn let out the breath she was holding in letting go of my arm and looking down at the red hand mark she left, giving me a sheepish smile. I rolled my eyes at her and packed my bag and putting back on my shoes so I can get of this plane as soon as possible.
Looking around a lot of people look relieved now and some still jittery but Alex is really tense gripping onto the armrest his knuckles paler than they should be and his body ridged. Must not like flying, but he was fine when we got on the plane he was really care free but now he looks like he can’t wait to get off.
The seatbelt sign turned off and he was already up and hand luggage out ready to leave. Everyone started bustling about trying to get their things out of the overhead carriers, taking down mine and Lynn's hand luggage and shopping. Looking back at where Alex was sitting he was nowhere to be seen. Joining the congested queue to get off the plane, finally stepping out of the cold air conditioned plane, Alex was standing outside with a few people from school but looked a lot calmer than he was in the plane, hmm maybe he's claustrophobic.
Walking and over to the group, Lynn was rambling about how nice it is compared to back home, but it’s always raining home of course anywhere with sun would be nicer. Alex shot me a brief look before calling over the last few people getting off the plane.
"Alright guys lets quickly head through immigration and then collect out luggage and go"
He smiled and we all followed his collected out suitcases and went through to find the families we would be staying with. Walking out the airport I immediately became sweaty and took of my jacket and started fanning myself lightly. There were 10 couples standing there smiling and holding up signs with peoples names on them. Looking around I finally found a sign that read, "WELCOME LANNETTE AND TYLER! :)"
I smiled at it disregarding the fact that my name was spelt wrong; a short woman with short dark brown hair and a man around 6ft with dirty blonde hair. Looking around I saw Tyler looking at them with a scowl on his face. He looked over at me and his scowl deepened if that was even possible. Shaking my head I walked over to the family. The woman’s smile faltered a bit but didn’t completely leave.
“Hi you must be Lanette”
“Yeah, Tyler’s just over there” I turned to point him out and bumped into someone, feeling a tingling sensation up my arm I looked up to see him looking down at me instead, “Oh well here.. he’s here”
I turned around and faced the couple again. The woman was looking between me and Tyler, noticing me looking at her she smiled and then gestures to the man.
“This is Joseph and I’m Mary” I looked at him and smiled but he was just looking with an unreadable expression on his face. A snort came from Tyler and we all turned to look at him chuckling to him self and looking down at the floor shaking his head.
“And what's so funny Tyler”
“Mary and Joseph really, so what do you have a child named Jesus too”
