University was like any other day long and boring. All you could think about was crawling back into bed. Then your phone beeped, It was Matt. You had met him in your first year of university. You had been together two years now and your relationship wasn't exactly perfect, in fact very far from.

It was time to finally leave and you started your 15 minute walk home, as you placed your headphones in and started your walk through the park back to your halls your mind was somewhere else. Once you had your headphones in you were in a complete different world, oblivious to anything going on around you. All you could think about was the job you had recently applied for through a friend of a friend. You couldn't stop thinking about how much of a perfect opportunity it was for you and  a nice get away break for a while. So wrapped up in your thoughts you didn't realize you had almost reached your door. Then suddenly you felt a hand on your shoulder which made you jump out of your skin. As you turnt round you saw a glum looking Matt. "Where have you been, I've text you and you've ignored it." As you felt your good mood go almost instantly you knew you had to answer "sorry, i didn't see it" This was a lie, but you didn't want to piss off Matt and get him angry. Matt looked at you in disgust and ushered you to your room and made a hand gesture as if to say, hurry up. So you hurried not expecting what was about to happen next.

As you stepped a foot in your doorway you were pushed into your room, pushed so hard that you fell to the floor. The next moment you felt hot breath breathing on the back of your neck and a whisper telling you too get up. Of course you got up, as you finally found your feet Matts hand was wrapped around your throat. As you looked at him scared, you were hoping he would let go. Instead his hands got tighter and he pushed you against the wardrobe grinding his teeth he slurred " you're a fucking little slut. Who the fuck do you think you are ignoring me? No-one ignores me and gets away with it." With that he brought your head so far back just to smash it against your wardrobe door. As your head made contact with the wood you felt an enormous pain shoot through your head, the feeling of dizziness was overwhelming and with tears streaming down your face you pleaded with Matt to let go he just stopped and looked at you dead in the eye and let out a chuckle then said "Bitch, I will let go when I want too. Who would want you, look at you you're a mess. You can't survive without me. I call all the shots round here and you know that Summer so don't ever ask me to do something again. Got it!" with that you nodded and said sorry. Matts grip only got tighter when you asked him to let go. Finally you felt him un clench his fist and let you go. You didn't dare question why he did what he did. You just bent down and picked up everything from your bag which fell out when he pushed you over. As you reached for your phone you noticed the notification light flashing red, which meant you had a new email. You knew not to look at your phone when Matt was around because he would just snatch your phone out your hand and delete whatever it was before you could see it. As you were picking up your things he stood over you and said "I'll be back later." And with that he casually walked out of your room.

You were left clearing up the mess he created. Once you had finally finished you sat on your bed thinking about why Matt treats you this way when you have done nothing to deserve any of this. Your thoughts were over taking your mind and as you sat there weeping you knew you could no longer bare it, but also knew you couldn't get away from it. It was like one massive vicious circle. You decided to take a shower before Matt just shows his face again. As you felt the warm water running down your body the stinging sensation on your neck was unbearable. Once you stepped out the shower you took a look in the mirror to find very defined hand prints around your throat. The first thought in your head was "How am i going to hide this?" You were worried what others might say and in fact cared less about what actually happened to you. You just didn't want anyone to know the real truth about Matt.
