The Princess of Elfin

Chapter 17

When I woke up, but I couldn't open my eyes quite yet. My body felt.. different. I felt stronger but in a bad way. As I'm laying down I felt my bed sink it. Is someone in my room? Then I feel something drip on me. As I sit up my face meets a creature, who definitely isn't here to say hello. And with that I let out a scream and kick it off my bed, it falls back onto the floor. I quickly stand up on my bed and look at it. It's a gray slimey creature, it's has a body of a human, it looks like it's stands on its arms and legs like a monkey. It has no facial features but a terrifying mouth with sharp teeth and a pink long tongue. It lets out a loud shriek and charges at me. I jump from my bed on to the floor avoiding it before could eat me. It's smashes against the wall. I scrambled to my feet and wait for it's next move. It starts shakes and starts moving it's head back and fourth. Can it not see me? Duh it can't, it had no eyes. Which means, it can sense me and only hear me. I put one foot in front of the other, it wasn't until the floor creaked and the creature found me. The only place I could run was the bathroom, I quickly
turned and ran towards it, but it grabbed my right foot. I used my left foot and kicked it off and got to my feet. I was leaning against the bathroom and the creature licked its mouth hungrily. That's when I realized it scratched my leg a little, blood was leaking from the cut. And with another shriek from the creature, it charged at me again. I opened the bathroom door and ducked, which made it go flying into the bathroom. I grabbed the handle again and slammed the door, holding it closed for my life. It was bumping against the door over and over again.
Suddenly LeTar, William and some guards come running into my room.
"Princess there's a creature within the castle-" LeTar begins talking but I really don't have time for listening.
"I KNOW! IT'S IN MY FREAKING BATHROOM." LeTar taken back by my words, he realizes I'm bleeding.
"Guards get the door, Prince William please take the princess somewhere safe."
And with that guards grab the door, keeping the creature locked inside and William picks me up, bridal style and takes me out of the room. He looks worried and hurried down the hallway, where are we going? We suddenly stop in front of a door that is familiar to me. It's the library. William places me down on the table and lifts my leg up slowly. He's examining my cut, he then takes out a handkerchief from his pocket. He places it on my cut and I let out a gasp, it really hurt.
"I'm sorry Princess." He presses down a little on my cut. "I can't take you to get proper treatment, we don't know how many creatures have gotten into the kingdom." He smiles a little, then returns back to my injury.
"What's happening?" I mean I know the war has started and some thing just tried to eat my face, which totally gave me a wake up call but anything else I should know about?
"The creatures of this word have been going crazy, more attacks have been happening. The creature that attacked you was a change-ling." A change-ling? I look at him confused.
"It's a creature that can disguise itself. It can look like someone you know or another creature. They're very dangerous and also tricky to kill, since they can look like one of us." I stare at him closely, I lean in a little bit.
"No Princess I'm not a change-ling." He laughs. What? You can never be too careful.
"Heh sorry." I rub the back of head, then let out big yawn. He staring at me and smiling. That's when I remembered last night.
"Did my father and Marcus get home alright?" I ask while letting my feet swing back and fourth on the table.
"Oh yes they did. After you passed out, they stayed for a while, but then they had to leave before it got to dangerous." I nod, good as long as they're safe.
"What are you doing here so early?"
"I came to see if you were feeling better, but you look beautiful as ever." My cheeks heat up. I look down at myself the markings are still there. I'm wearing a gray sweatshirt and some shorts, I don't remember changing.
"It seems like I have another rival for your heart." I look up at William. He's talking about Marcus. "But I won't let that stop me." He cupped my face with his hand. I immediately start feeling nervous, he was leaning in. Is he going to kiss me? No way. I raise my hand to his chest and push him back.
"Morning breath, sorry." I give him a toothless smile. He's looks at me and laughs.
"You are something quite different Princess." He smiles again. Suddenly a guard comes in the room.
"Princess Zakiah and Prince William, King Lynk and Queen Lilac are looking for you too. They are waiting in the throne room."
"Thank you we'll be coming now." And with that William picks me up again, I would tell him to put me down but I know he won't listen, I sit comfortable being carried by him. When we reach the throne room, I see my parents expression. They look upset, but they see me they quickly come over and hug me.
"Oh my precious you're okay." My mother kisses me, while my father hugs me.
"Yes I'm fine, are you okay?" They nod in response. That's when I notice Ms. Optus isn't here.
"Where is Ms. Optus?"
"She had return to the council to discuss, what will happen now since the Beast has been released. She'll figure out what you must do." I nod, when she returns that's when I'll know what I have to do.
Since I don't have a room at the moment and I need to freshen up, I guess I'll go home and do that. Plus I can see my dad and tell him I'm okay. But when I try to teleport, I don't go anywhere. I try over and over again, I begin feeling light headed from trying to use my magic so I fall down to the floor on my knees.
"What's happening? Why can't I leave?" I scream out. My parents look at each other then kneel down to me.
"The Beast probably has a boundary on you. Since the war started you can't not leave. Might not be able to leave until the war is over." My father says. I repeat those words to myself, I can't leave. I stand up, my fists are tight and there are rolling down my cheeks.
"I love you guys okay? And I love this place, it's beautiful and it's my home. But I can't not stay here, my dad is back there. He did everything for me, and he didn't have too. I can't leave him alone. Because if I do who's gonna drink hot chocolate in the morning with him? Who's gonna bring him his briefcase before he leaves for work? Who is he gonna call 'kiddo'?" I yell the last part. "I'm Renee Walker, daughter Christopher Walker and even though he's not my real dad, he always loved me as a real daughter. I'll get stronger and defeat the Beast and see him again." And with that turn on my heel and run out of the throne room. I run through the hallways, back to my room. It's kind of trashed but I ignored it. The guards apparently got rid of the change-ling and disposed of it. I freshen up and got changed. I wore a black long sleeved shirt and black pants with my combat boots. I pulled my hair in a ponytail, but leaving some of it out and I tucked it behind my ear. I headed out of my room to the training room. Once there I took a sword and a bow and some arrows. I even pick up a small dagger. I put the harness around my waist and slid my sword in it, then wrapped the pouch of arrows on my back. Grabbing my bow I headed out, when I reached outside I went to the pen. Im walking by the horses trying to decide which one to take. When I walked in more I see a lovely brown one. My necklace glowed, guess your the lucky horse. It was a brown horse with white spots on him, he was really cute. I raised my hand towards the horse, at first he refused to be petted by me. But once I gave him a few carrots he allowed me to ride him. Once I got on, I was kind of nervous I never rode a horse. Well I did when I was in second grade on a field trip at a barn, but there was a guy holding the horse the whole time. I pulled on the harness and moved forward, after a few minutes I got the hand of it. I rode him outside of the pen.
"Princess." I turned to see my parents, LeTar and William looking at surprised.
"Where are you doing?" LeTar said concerned.
"The practice grounds, I'll be back." I pulled on the horses harness and headed towards the front gate.
"I'll come with you." I hear William says while jogging over to the pen.
"No." He stops in his tracks. "I'll be fine and plus I need to think." And with that, I whipped the harness and took off into the forest. I could hear them calling me, but continued riding I need to get away.
